Olivia was very surprised by the news. She was a witch! She did have magical abilities! It wasn’t a prank! She ran up to her room followed by the screaming of her little cousin, Hailey, ‘FREAK! FREAK! FREAK! FREAK! FREAK!’
She was very excited but… what was Diagon Alley? She quickly grabbed her most important belongings and threw them in a spare trunk. She carried it over the stairs and sped to the front door.
‘I think I’m ready now,’ she said hurriedly.
‘Got yer things?’ Hagrid asked.
Olivia nodded hastily.
‘Even the Hogwarts acceptance letter?’
‘Oh, I forgot that.’
‘Go get it. It has the list o’ items yeh need.’
‘Alright.’
Olivia ran upstairs, grabbed the paper and ran back to the front door, looking very nervous. She nodded at Hagrid, who nodded back.
‘Let’s go now.’
Hagrid took Olivia to an odd looking pub, which was a few blocks away, and was called “The Leaky Cauldron”. It had many people, rather odd looking people actually, inside. Olivia also noticed that they were the only people looking at the pub, she thought that non-magical people couldn’t see it. The people inside had wands and did magic like stirring their spoon without touching it and lifting items with their wands. Olivia was simply amazed. She continued gaping at the wands.
People were waving to Hagrid while he took her to a back wall in the cafe and they got out the other way.
‘How do we get past this? Should I have brought a drill or something?’ asked Olivia, arching an eyebrow.
‘No, no, watch this,’ Hagrid chuckled.
He tapped a brick on the wall twice with a flowery pink umbrella and it began opening up. It revealed a small alleyway with a reasonable amount of shops and stores on each side.
‘Is this your wand?’ asked Olivia, trying her best to hold her laughter.
‘SHH! Don’ talk abou’ it!’ Hagrid shushed Olivia angrily (she felt shocked). ‘Sorry, the thing is that I’m not allowed ter use magic.’
He showed Olivia a wand broken in half inside the flowery pink umbrella.
