Halloween: 31st of October
Chapter 33
People were very excited for Halloween, because there were rumours that there would be a giant feast.
‘Is there really going to be an extra special feast and all that?’ asked Olivia.
‘There have been rumours going round,’ said Amelia.
‘I don’t know,’ said Isabell. ‘Dad told me that every year there were very fun things in Halloween but he never told me what they were. He said that would ruin the surprise.’
‘Oh, I can’t wait right now!’ said Olivia eagerly.
‘Yeah, me too!’ said Amelia.
On October 31st, the hall was covered in live flying bats, talking pumpkin lanterns, orange streamers, water snakes and goblets of coloured sweets.
‘Woah, I am lucky to be a witch,’ Olivia said as she admired the decoration.
‘But mum-’ but Isabell broke off, suddenly being sad.
‘But your mum wouldn’t have seen the decorations, because she was a Muggle,’ Amelia completed the sentence.
‘She’ll always be in there, I’ve told you this before,’ said Olivia.
‘Always,’ said Amelia; she felt a lot of sympathy and understanding for Isabell. ‘Actually, Albert gave me a letter that was written to you Isabell, here I forgot to give it to-’
But before Amelia could complete the sentence, Isabell snatched her bag and got out a letter.
‘Well, I was gonna get it out when you just opened my bag carelessly and got the letter,’ Amelia said, looking shocked.
In the letter the handwriting was very neat:
Dear Isabell,
I have marvellous news! Your mother isn’t dead, she just fainted! And guess what, she is pregnant! It is a boy. You can invite your friends to see the baby at Christmas. Send a letter saying what you want to call him with your best friends.
Your mother and I can’t wait to see you!
Lots of love,
Your father, Mr. Riley Bluesky
‘OH… MY… GOD!’ Isabell couldn’t believe it. ‘MUM’S NOT DEAD!’
She was so happy.
‘What should we name him?’ said Olivia jumping up and down.
‘I dunno… Maybe Isaac?’ suggested Amelia.
’How about Blue?’ said Olivia.
‘I don’t know…’ Isabell was thinking hard.
‘Ian?’
‘Ivan?’
‘A name that starts with an I, like me,’ said Isabell, looking very happy.
‘So, it’s a choice between Ivan, Isaac and Ian,’ said Amelia.
‘Yep,’ said Olivia.
‘To be honest, I choose… Ivan,’ said Isabell.
‘Yeah, I think it’s the best choice,’ agreed Amelia.
Olivia nodded her head in agreement. Isabell sent a letter to her father saying the name they want to call the baby boy.
