Ravenclaw vs Slytherin
Chapter 32
Days passed by, people scratching pieces of parchment, students doing their homework and playing games such as Gobstones. The Quidditch match Slytherin vs Ravenclaw was drawing nearer and nearer. It was to take place on the 23rd of October. The Ravenclaws were training harder than ever, making a very good effort. They were confident they would win and beat the Slytherins, who by any chance, tried to jinx Ravenclaws in corridors but failed. A Slytherin jinxed a Ravenclaw boy, who wasn’t in the Ravenclaw quidditch team and was in his 3rd year. The jinx made the boy’s teeth grow so long that it reached his chin! He had to be taken to the hospital wing.
‘I’m nervous for you,’ said Olivia
‘I’m anxious.’
Amelia was still improving her seeker skills, so she could be perfect in time for the match.
‘Eh… sure you will do great after we saw you in the last training,’ Isabell said, taking a huge bite from a strawberry tart in front of her.
‘Y-yeah. I dunno.’
‘I agree with Isabell, you will show those Slytherins who’s boss!’ Olivia said, who had created an eagle- shaped hat for the event last night.
‘You’re not helping you know! Everytime you say the name Slytherin it makes me feel more nervous!’
‘Fine, we will say-’ began Isabell.
‘Hello Amelia, are you ready for the match?’ Roger said as he approached the girls.
‘H-hi, and no, I’m not’
‘No need to be nervous, the Slytherin team is a bit lousy, they’ve always been,’ shrugged Roger as he looked at Amelia’s pale and nervous face.
‘Easy for you to say,’ muttered Amelia, looking pale. ‘You’ve been playing against them for three years.’
‘Well, well, well. Amelia Clearwater!’
Draco suddenly appeared out of thin air, like he always did.
‘Not only breaking the tradition of the Clearwaters, but playing against us,’ Draco smirked. ‘I don’t even know why you’re bothering to play versus us, you’re very… Hmm… What’s the right word? L-’
‘Where did he come from?’ Isabell interrupted, alarmed.
‘Draco, you insulted me, now you can leave,’ Amelia said.
‘Please, break a leg for me, I really mean it,’ laughed Draco as his ‘gorilla gang’ followed.
‘Harry will curse him. I’m used to it by now, but I really like it when I see Draco being punished and getting hurt,’ Isabell grinned as she saw Draco go past Harry.
But Harry didn’t curse him, Ron did. Draco looked pale, and Crabbe and Goyle looked mad, so they were going to jinx Ron, but they didn’t know what spells to cast.
‘Don’t just stand there, run!’ Draco said as he ran to the Slytherin table.
‘He gets what he deserves,’ sighed Isabell, staring at Draco.
‘OH! I need to go now to change, cross your fingers!’
‘Will do,’ Isabell said as Amelia ran out of the hall hurriedly.
‘I’m guessing we wait until she comes back?’ asked Olivia, peering at the blurred figure of Amelia.
‘She won’t come back, we will go to her,’ Isabell said.
‘Oh, I forgot about that, thanks for reminding me,’ said Olivia.
‘No problem, let’s just hurry to the pitch already!’ Isabell said, grinning.
When they reached the pitch, cheers and boos erupted through the environment. Even Hufflepuff and Gryffindor were cheering for Ravenclaw, but the Slytherins were booing as soon as the Ravenclaw players came walking into the pitch.
‘Woohoo! Amelia!’ Isabell shouted very loudly.
‘Looks like Amelia has extra support,’ yelled Olivia, cheering with the crowd.
‘This is Albert Foxglove! Today we have Ravenclaw (cheers from Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, Slytherins booing) playing verses Slytherin!’
‘ALBERT!’ said Isabell, waving to him.
‘Albert?’ asked Olivia.
‘He’s the boy who had fluffy dark ginger hair and hazel eyes, you pointed to him at Amelia’s first training,’ said Isabell.
‘Oh, yeah… Haven’t seen him in a while.’
As the players came in, Albert began saying their names at top speed.
‘In Ravenclaw we have: Davies- Stretton- Chang- Samuels- Boot- Burrow, and lastly, Clearwater!’ he said. ‘In Slytherin we have: Flint- Pucey- Higgs- Warrington- Montague and lastly, Malfoy!’
‘I didn’t know that Draco plays Quidditch!’ yelled Isabell loudly.
‘Me neither!’ boomed Olivia over the crowd's cheers.
‘First, Davies gets hold of the quaffle, passes it to Burrow, OH NO! BURROW DROPS IT! (Groans from the Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff crowd). Warrington takes the ball and will he score? AND BOOT SAVES IT! Chang is after the bludger, it’s going to hit Davies! Chang and Samuels save him! They hit Pucey- Burrow takes the quaffle! Passes it to Stretton- to Davies! YES! AND DAVIES SCORES! Now Higgs has the quaffle, will he score? No-no! He SCORES! NOOOO! OH LOOK! The seekers are each an inch away from the golden snitch! Looks like Malfoy’s almost there! Clearwater’s catching up! OH NO! MALFOY FALLS OFF! Who’s going to save him now- Clearwater catches him! WHAT? (gasps from all four houses) She places him on the ground and goes to look for the snitch! It is now out of sight! Clearwater looks like she almost found it- SHE ZOOMS AS FAST AS POSSIBLE ON HER BROOM! AND… Will she catch it? NOOOOOOO! It is out of sight! WAIT- NO IT ISN’T. IT IS HERE! RIGHT HERE! CLEARWATER ZOOMS AND SHE CAUGHT IT! THE MATCH IS OVER! One hundred and fifty more points to Ravenclaw! That leaves… Slytherin at ten points and Ravenclaw at…One hundred and sixty! THAT WAS UNEXPECTED! A REALLY FAST CATCH!’
As Amelia’s team went down from their broom and were high-fiving her and cheering for her, Olivia and Isabell were whispering quietly to each other.
‘Amelia won!’ said Isabell.
‘I can’t believe that happened!’ said Olivia, amazed.
‘Let’s boo the Slytherins! That’ll keep Draco in his right mind for a while!’ said Isabell.
‘We might get in trouble,’ said Olivia as she grinned. ‘But Draco should feel grateful. Amelia saved him!’
‘I know right! Why don’t we go down and cheer on Amelia?’ asked Isabell.
‘Sure,’ replied Olivia.
Olivia and Isabell went down the stadium and they came as close as they could to Amelia and started yelling and hugging her.
‘WAY TO GO AMELIA!’ shouted Isabell.
‘YES! WE WON!’
Everyone in the Ravenclaw Quidditch team was screaming and laughing really loudly. After everyone had had enough of cheering they all went back to their lessons.
‘No! Double potions next,’ said Isabell as Amelia and Olivia groaned.
‘Professor Snape will kill me for winning Slytherin!’ groaned Amelia.
‘Oh… right. You’re in for it now,’ said Olivia.
‘What homework do you think he’ll give this time? A 30 metre long essay about Veritaserum?’ said Isabell.
‘More like fifty metres!’ said Amelia.
The girls kept on talking as they walked to Potions. When they finally reached the classroom, they sat in their normal seats and waited for class to start.
‘Open page twenty-five, read it to page forty-five,’ said Snape in his usual cold tone. ‘Then copy out pages twenty-five to thirty in your exercise books.’
‘Seriously?’ whispered Olivia towards Isabell and Amelia.
‘I know right? That’s so-’ began Isabell.
‘Would you like to comment on your work, girls? I’m sure everyone would like to hear what you have to say,’ interrupted Snape, lips curling.
‘No sir, we don’t want to comment,’ said Isabell angrily.
‘I’m sure you do, otherwise… when you copy page twenty-five to thirty, I would like you three to copy it out five times,’ said Snape with a soft smirk on his face.
‘Looks like someone’s misbehaving in class!’ laughed Draco.
‘Mr. Malfoy, that comment just cost you 5 points from Slytherin,’ said Snape.
‘But Professor! They-’ started Draco.
‘Would you like detention as well?’
‘No, Professor. Sorry.’
Class went on and after everyone finished class, since it was double potions, they barely had time to do something else. Everyone had aching hands. A Hufflepuff boy actually fainted.
‘Now, has everyone finished their reading and writing?’ asked Snape in an interesting tone.
‘Yes,’ the class said in a weary union.
‘Good. Now, I think we have just enough time to have a pop quiz.’
‘WHAT?’ yelled Olivia.
‘That's really unfair!’ said Isabell.
‘Another comment is it?’
‘No, we were not commenting! We were stating facts!’ said Olivia furiously.
‘Oh really? That’s what you were doing is it? I think you both are asking me to invite you to my office at five, in detention!’ Snape snarled.
‘Great,’ whispered Isabell. ‘We just barely started Halloween and now it’s detention, and at five! That’s when the Halloween feast will start!’
‘Nice! The Ravenclaw stars are now in detention!’ said Draco, smirking.
‘SILENCE!’ commanded Snape, ‘I did not ask you to share your opinions Mr. Malfoy, that goes to you too, Ms. Bluesky.’
‘BUT SIR!’ shouted Olivia.
‘I will not hear anything! Enough! Detention, Ms. Dragonheart, you and Ms. Bluesky.’
He smirked.
‘At five?’ said Isabell angrily.
‘Yes, at five. Tomorrow.’
‘YES! At least not today!’
‘You are risking that at the moment,’ Snape hissed.
‘Sorry, sir,’ said Isabell as a grin began to form on her face.
‘Wow, I thought a Ravenclaw trait was intelligence!’ said Draco, ‘I think you’re lacking that!’
‘Well-’ began Olivia.
‘No! Ignore him! You’ll get in more trouble!’ interrupted Amelia, whisper-shouting.
‘Mr. Malfoy, I think you would like to join Ms. Bluesky and Ms. Dragonheart in detention,’ scolded Snape in a tired tone. ‘You clearly have a habit of commenting every five minutes.’
‘Told you,’ said Harry to Ron.
‘You too, Potter,’ said Snape coldly. ‘Four people in detention at the same time! I will be informing Professor Dumbledore.’
‘Clearly expected,’ said Harry, giving Snape a cold glare.
‘And Potter, I have a very special task for you.’
‘Why won’t I be getting the same task as them?’
Snape ignored him.
‘Class dismissed, but before you go, homework is a 10 metre long essay about the three different ingredients that are used to make the strengthening solution,’ said Snape as all the children got their books and bags, groaning.
‘We didn’t even learn about that yet!’ whispered Amelia as soon as they left the dungeons.
‘I wonder why Snape turned a bit kinder today,’ said Isabell.
‘WHAT?’ yelled Olivia. ‘He gave us detention and very long homework!’
‘Think about it, he didn’t give us detention today! He made it tomorrow!’
‘I did hear Professor Dumbledore saying to him that he shouldn’t give anyone detention on Halloween or Christmas,’ Amelia said.
'Well, that explains it,’ muttered Olivia.
