Flying Lessons
Chapter 26
‘Why did they have to take flying lessons now?’ asked Isabell as they walked to the Grounds.
‘It is cold even with no snow,’ said Olivia, shivering slightly.
They passed by Hagrid, who was carrying a black tree, which was two times the size of him.
‘Now that is one big tree,’ exclaimed Isabell.
‘Yup, sure is,’ Amelia said.
‘What do you expect? He can carry something two times the size of him, a new discovery,’ grinned Olivia.
They all giggled.
‘Hello Hagrid!’ they called out as Hagrid waved his enormous hands to them.
‘One minute left for flying lessons guys!’ said Amelia nervously.
‘Ok,’ both Isabell and Olivia said.
They ran until they found the place where the flying lessons were taking place.
‘Good afternoon class,’ called out a woman with pale white hair and eyes as yellow as the sun.
‘She looks fierce, like a hawk,’ said Isabell. ‘Maybe she was in Ravenclaw?’
‘Will you stop judging people by their appearance?’ asked Amelia angrily.
‘At least she didn’t say something rude this time,’ laughed Olivia.
‘I can’t help it!’ Isabell said apologetically.
‘We will start by getting brooms from the shed over there,’ Madam Hooch interrupted their conversation and pointed towards the broom shed.
‘I’m so nervous ,’ whispered Olivia. ‘OUCH!’
Draco shoved her aside, and he made Olivia fall hard on her arm.
‘Ow,’ said Olivia weakly.
‘Oops, didn’t see you there,’ laughed Malfoy.
‘Olivia!’ Isabell and Amelia rushed to her.
‘My… arm… it’s- OUCH, DON’T TOUCH IT, Isabell!’ Olivia yelled.
‘OH! Sorry!’
They had seen Hermione jinx Draco with a weird spell they had never seen before.
‘That is what you get for pushing people Malfoy,’ Hermione said.
‘Wow Hermione! Nice jinx!’ Amelia shouted, giving Hermione a thumbs-up.
Hermione gave her one in reply and she walked away, laughing with Ron and Harry.
‘Ok everyone. Got your brooms?’ Madam Hooch yelled as soon as the students came back from the shed.
‘Madam Hooch? My arm’s hurt, I think,’ Olivia said as she glared at Draco with pure loath and disgust.
‘To the hospital wing then,’ insisted Madam Hooch, sighing.
‘There is a Hospital wing?’ Olivia asked.
‘Not the time for questions Olivia,’ Isabell muttered.
‘But I never read anything about the Hospital Wing in any of the-’
But Madam Hooch carried an alarmed Olivia by the other arm to the hospital wing.
‘Well, that was one useless lesson,’ Isabell sighed as she watched the blurred figures of Olivia and Madam Hooch being swallowed by the darkness of the tree shadows.
‘Oi, Clearwater!’ Malfoy yelled.
‘What?’ Amelia snapped. ‘Don’t call me by my last name! You know I hate that!’
‘What do you want Draco?’ Isabell shouted.
‘None of your business, Ms. Nosy.’
Isabell was speechless.
‘How about you catch this rock and let’s see if you can actually catch something,’ he smirked.
‘If you’re telling me to do this, then you should do it!’ Amelia yelled.
‘It ‘s not optional, if you don’t do it, I will let you get in detention, I am sure you wouldn’t want that… would you?’
‘What’s wrong with you, Draco?’ asked Amelia, ‘Since when have you been this… mean? I won’t do it!’
‘None of your business , just want to have fun.’
‘Have fun with yourself, not me,’ Amelia said coolly.
‘Do it!’ Draco yelled.
‘Fine, you freak,’ Amelia shouted as Draco picked a spherical rock.
‘No, don’t do it!’ Isabell yelled.
Amelia ignored her.
‘Whatever,’ Amelia said as she climbed on her broom, rose up a few feet from the ground, and waited for Draco to throw a rock.
As he threw it, Amelia with all her speed went after it… it was about to hit a terrified Hufflepuff first-year girl. Amelia’s fingers were an inch away from the rock… She tumbled on the floor. Whispers were heard everywhere. There was something in Amelia’s right hand.
She caught it!
Yells and cheers filled the grounds. Amelia actually caught it!
‘YES AMELIA!’ Isabell was jumping up and down, Draco however, looked pale.
Madam Hooch was standing with her arms crossed, she had seen it all and approached Amelia.
‘Sorry, Madam Hooch,’ said Amelia, looking down at her feet.
‘5 points from Ravenclaw! You could’ve gotten in bigger trouble than this. But... you make a very good seeker!’
