Notice!
Chapter 25
‘Guys! There is a notice in the common room!’ Amelia yelled as Isabell and Olivia finished their breakfast (which was french toast, oatmeal and yoghurt with nuts) on a fine Wednesday.
‘Coming!’ yelled Isabell back and she took the last bite of her french toast which was covered in caramel syrup.
‘Wait for me!’ yelled Olivia, as she shoved some oatmeal into her mouth.
They all rushed up the stairs and in the room. They quickly answered the riddle and rushed to the notice:
Dear Ravenclaw first-years,
Your flying lessons will begin, starting from today by 2:20. Please be prepared to learn to fly as it could be scary for some and otherwise fun for others.. The flying lessons will take place in the School Grounds.
Sincerely
Rolanda Hooch
‘Flying lesson!’ sighed Isabell when she finished reading the notice.
‘Woah,’ exclaimed Olivia. ‘I bet I’ll fall right away.’
‘Nah, it ain’t that hard,’ Isabell said, raising her shoulders.
‘Did you ever try it?’ asked Amelia.
‘To be honest, I didn't,’ Isabell grinned.
‘Well, luckily I know how to, my dad and m-mom were kind enough to buy me a broom, it was a gift for my 5th birthday...’ Amelia said, but she started crying.
She tried to hide the tears, but it was so obvious and Olivia noticed.
‘Need some time alone?’ Olivia asked worriedly.
‘It’s ok, I’ll tell you about it.’
‘Ok, I’m all ears,’ Olivia said as she watched Amelia carefully.
‘Can I listen in too?’ asked Isabell, leaning in as though eavesdropping.
‘Sure, if you won’t tell it to the whole school,’ joked Amelia.
Isabell and Olivia grinned.
‘M-my mum died when I was five. That broom was the last gift my father and mother gave me together… And my dad married this woman- They married and soon after my father totally forgot about my real mother… My real mother would always get me simple gifts but I really loved them. A-and I’m just so mad at my father for marrying another woman who wasn’t even as close to a caring person as my mother. ‘
She continued to cry as Olivia and Isabell patted her gently.
‘Well, my father has been requesting me to join You-Know-Who and his army,’ Amelia added hastily.
‘WAIT WHAT? I thought he was gone? And are your parents DEATH EATERS?’ Isabell shouted very loudly.
Olivia shushed Isabell and watched Amelia in disbelief.
‘What are Death Eaters-?’ Olivia asked quietly.
‘They are the Dark Lord’s followers,’ replied Amelia.
‘Are both your parents Death Eaters?’ Isabell whispered.
‘No no, only my dad,’ Amelia corrected her sadly. ‘And Draco’s dad is a Death Eater as well. His mother doesn't know. I bet You-Know-Who will rise to power as they are preparing for everything.’
‘OF COURSE HE WOULDN’T RISE TO POWER!’ yelled Isabell.
‘How can you be so sure? Maybe a Death Eater will help him live, he can’t really die you know,’ said Amelia darkly.
‘How do you know all this and sorry for being “nosy”, but HOW?’ Isabell asked suspiciously.
‘I told you, my dad’s a Death Eater, he tells me things like this. That’s the only thing he talks to me about though. He is expecting me to get interested in You-Know-Who or something.’
‘But…’ began Isabell. ‘You didn’t join You-Know-Who did you?’ she asked, looking tensely at Amelia.
‘Of course not, HOW could you say that? I’m too young anyways… It’s just practice.’
‘Sorry,’ said Isabell quickly. ‘Didn’t mean to offend you.’
‘It’s alright.’
‘I need some time alone now,’ sighed Olivia. ‘Taking in all this is too much, I didn’t know the Wizarding world was that crazy!’
‘Ok…’ Amelia said, looking nervous. ‘See you later?’
‘Maybe.’
After a little bit, it seemed like an hour, the girls realised that they had a flying lesson.
‘Oh no! We’re going to be late for the flying lesson!’ called out Amelia.
‘C’mon Olivia!’ yelled Isabell.
‘Coming,’ said Olivia weakly.
She got out of her bed and prepared to learn to fly across the dull sky.
