Chapter 38

The Big Talk

‘So, Amelia, um-’

Olivia had no idea how to say that she and Isabell wanted to talk, but in a way that didn’t make Amelia think they were talking about her or wanted to leave her.

‘We wanted to give you something else and we still hadn’t prepared it,’ said Isabell, interrupting Olivia.

‘Oh, ok then, I’ll wait here for you,’ said Amelia, not even paying attention to them as she was still focusing on her presents.

‘Let’s go,’ Olivia mouthed to Isabell.

The two girls ran up to the girls’ Dormitory and sat on Olivia’s neat bed.

‘So when are you going to say anything?’ asked Isabell, peering anxiously at Olivia, who was staring at her feet.

‘Uh, I-I wanted to- uh, I wanted to say that, I-I might have a-’

‘Breathe then say,’ said Isabell, looking extremely nervous.

Olivia took deep breaths then looked at Isabell a little more calmly.

‘I just want to say that I might have… a magical talent.’

‘WHAT?’

Isabell gaped at Olivia, who nodded.

‘I read it in a book I think.’

Olivia showed a bewildered Isabell a book that talked about Magical Talents. It was called: The Magicis Artibus Ariolos and Maleficos.

In the book it said:

Magical Talents are found in very few wizards and witches. These Talents are different from one another. These Magical Talents must be used for good or that witch or wizard won’t have them anymore.

The most famous of the gifted wizards is Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore .

Isabell gasped.

‘Keep on reading,’ Olivia said as she pointed at the text.

One of the Magical Talents is seeing through someone’s eyes. With this Talent you can see the memory or thoughts and they will be pictured in your mind. of this person if you just look deep. People usually get this talent from ten-fifteen years and it will stay forever if it is continued to be used for good. But you have to look at that person with your eyes, and they have to do the same in order for you to see through them. If they keep eye contact, the other person would also see the memory. If you have this talent then your ancestors were in Slytherin as well as Ravenclaw.

This time Olivia gasped. She hadn’t seen the last sentence. Ravenclaw and Slytherin?

‘So, can you do it?’ asked Isabell, obviously not noticing the last sentence.

‘I’ll try. Look at me.’

The green eyes met the greenish-brown ones, and Olivia was able to see through them.

A girl who looked like Isabell but a much younger version seemed to be playing in a yard. She looked about 5 years old. She had short brown wavy hair, rosy cheeks and green-brown eyes. She was wearing a blue dress and was trying to throw a ball into a hoop.

‘Look mommy! I did it!’ the young Isabell yelled to a woman.

The woman had blue eyes and straight brown hair.

‘Marvellous! Your father would think you would make an amazing Chaser. His good old stories about Hogwarts,’ Isabell’s mother sighed as she sat next to Isabell.

‘Where is daddy anyways?’ Isabell asked, looking around.

‘Oh, your father is in the Ministry… he, uh, has some issues. But he will fix them and come back as soon as possible.’

Olivia noticed that Isabell’s mother’s voice was very unsteady. The young Isabell thought so too, but she focused on throwing another ball into the hoop.

‘I’m back!’

A young man appeared, he had wavy black hair, as well as wide greenish-brown eyes. It was Mr. Bluesky. He kissed Mrs. Bluesky on the cheek and hugged his daughter tightly.

‘DADDY! You fixed your i-ish-oo-z?’

Mr. Bluesky stared at Mrs. Bluesky, who looked down.

The scene dissolved and Olivia saw the young Isabell, who was now about 7 years, looking through a slightly open door. There was a loud shout, which made Isabell surprised.

‘NO! I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!’ A man yelled.

‘B-but-’

‘Emma! I simply don’t understand why you would do that!’

‘I HAD TO! HE WOULD HAVE KILLED OUR DAUGHTER!’

‘You had to join evil because of Isabell and now the Minister wants to fire me! I can only get money by working at the Ministry!’

‘Join evil? Join evil? HOW DARE YOU!’

‘Now listen here… I can do whatever I want because you are a-a Muggle who-who understands nothing!’

‘Just b-because I’m a Muggle y-you can  d-do anything you want? Do you know what will happen if you divorce me? Isabell will-’

‘YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT ISABELL!’

‘SHE IS MY ONLY DAUGHTER!’

‘THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE!’

‘LIKE WHAT? If there are more important things than a child then what are they?’

‘A caring wife, which you aren’t.’

‘YOU THINK THAT TAKING CARE OF A SEVEN YEAR OLD EVERY SINGLE DAY DOESN’T MAKE ME A CARING WIFE?’

‘Things I won’t mention!’

The door opened and Isabell’s mother ran out covering her eyes. Mr. Bluesky looked at her darkly.

‘You’ve heard it then?’

The young Isabell covered her face, unable to speak.

‘Why are you mad at mommy?’

Obliviate.’

‘No!’

Isabell ducked and the spell missed, and instead it hit a cabinet which burst into flames. She then headed towards the door and ran away from the house.

‘ISABELL! COME BACK!’

The scene dissolved and Isabell a few months older since her hair had lengthened a little. She was sitting with a man. It was… Mr. Ollivander? They were sitting at the Leaky Cauldron,  Olivia noticed.

‘So Isabell, how were things at home?’

‘Bad.’

Isabell looked down at her cup of milk. Mr. Ollivander patted her on the back gently.
‘Why? What happened?’

‘D-daddy g-got mad at mommy a-and he tried to use a s-spell on me! I th-think it w-was O-bli-via- or something. S-so I ran away.’

‘The forgetting spell. Curious, very curious.’

Olivia immediately understood what he meant. He had seen Amelia’s stepmother use the same spell.

‘I-Isabell?’

A weak voice came from outside the pub. The young Isabell looked up to see two men drag a man from his throat. Another two men followed them and they were carrying a woman.

‘Mommy?’

‘Y-yes, i-it’s me Isabell.’

‘How did you come here? Muggles can’t see this place,’

‘Oh… Probably some weird magic that made me see it,’ Isabell’s mother said hastily.

‘REMEMBER THE PROMISE MOMMY! No lying!’

A few people at the bar glanced at their direction, apparently very curious.

‘Isabell, dear-’ Mrs. Bluesky began.

‘No!’ Isabell said.

Isabell’s mother looked helplessly at Mr. Bluesky, who nodded.

‘I’m not your mother, I’m an auror and-’

‘What?’ Isabell looked petrified. ‘Are you daddy though?’

‘Ah, Alica, you’re helping Riley find Isabell, I see,’ Mr. Ollivander had spoken as the auror’s disguise started fading.

She now had red hair with thick black highlights and sea green eyes. She had freckles all over her face.

‘Hello, Garrick, long time no see,’ the woman smirked as she blew on some hair that was covering her eyes.

‘You think?’ Mr. Ollivander pointed his wand at her then was going to cast a spell but Mr. Bluesky interrupted.

‘Garrick, she was helping me,’ Mr. Bluesky said as he glared at Mr. Ollivander’s wand.

‘Why daddy? Why are you angry at mommy?’ Isabell suddenly said.

Mr. Bluesky sighed and was going to stand up and hug her but Isabell jumped from her chair and backed away.

‘Izzy, come back!’ he yelled as Isabell ran again.

The scene dissolved and another one replaced it. They were in their small house and  Isabell was hugging her mother, who was badly scarred. Isabell looked about a year older.

‘Mum, what did they do to you?’

‘They tortured me,’ said Mrs. Bluesky simply.

‘Why?’

‘Because I am a Muggle.’

Isabell hugged her mother again.

‘I love you mom.’

‘Me too honey,’ Mrs. Bluesky sighed. ‘Your father saved me, you know.’

‘W-what?’

‘Yes, Izzy. He did. He saved me from those bad guys.’

There was a gentle knock at the wooden door.

‘I’ll-I’ll get it,’ Isabell said.

She cautiously walked towards the door. She opened it and Mr. Bluesky was there, battle marks on his face.

‘Riley…’ Mrs. Bluesky whispered.

‘Daddy? What happened?’

‘I’ll explain everything when you are older.’

Mr. Bluesky and Mrs. Bluesky hugged a crying Isabell.

The scene started fading, fading, fading. Until Olivia was looking at the older Isabell, who was shocked and crying.

‘Y-you saw it too?’

Isabell slowly nodded and continued crying.

‘So… what did happen anyway?’ Olivia asked casually, trying to comfort Isabell.

‘I-I don’t remember any of this, h-how did you see it? And how did I see it too?’

‘It said in the book that if we keep eye contact, the other person would see the memory.’

There was silence for a moment.

‘Isabell? Olivia? Are you ready or not?’ they heard Amelia yell.

‘Wait a moment,’ Olivia said as she rushed out of the Common room and Dormitory, leaving Isabell. Albert and Amelia (who were in the Common Room and saw Olivia zoom by) confused.

It’s got to be here.

She ran and ran until she came across the School Library. She asked the Librarian who was sitting on a desk in a corner.

‘Excuse me, do you know where there are books about counterspells-?’

‘GET AWAY, DON’T YOU SEE I’M HAVIN’ A CUP OF TEA?’

‘Right, sorry.’

Olivia continued looking until she gave up. But then she saw a few fireflies in front of her. They were flapping their wings quickly, as though manipulating Olivia to follow them. They then led her to a shelf. Olivia followed them, unsure of why she was doing so.

‘But I searched here-’

But then she saw it…  She quickly grabbed the book. It was: Counterspells and how to do them.

She flipped through the dusty yellow pages; she realised the counterspells were written in Alphabetical order. She then flipped through the pages that contained spells that started with the letter ‘O’. She finally found it.

The counterspell for Obliviate:

There isn’t an official counter spell for Obliviate. You can torture that person in order for them to recollect memory.

However, the famous William the Bastard created a counter spell which would recollect memory, but not fully.

The counter spell is:

Reminiscere Memoria

(Remini-sh-care Memo-riya)

This spell emits orange light from the tip of the wand, the wand movement is:  Swish, swish and zigzag.

HOWEVER,

You must do the wand movement above very precisely or the person you are using the spell on will forget everything.

Olivia practised the spell for five minutes and tried to do it as precise and accurate as possible until the librarian found her and screamed:

‘NO SPELLS IN THE LIBRARY!’

Olivia rushed out of the library with the book (she didn’t bother telling the Librarian about it) and quickly answered the riddle to enter the Common Room. She entered the Common Room and up to the Dormitory and sat on her bed, where Isabell was still standing next to.

‘I’m back,’ Olivia panted.

‘Good, I was wondering why in the world you would just run awa-’

But then Isabell saw the book Olivia had. She shook her head but Olivia nodded.

‘I have to do it, you need to know the truth.’

‘No- no-’ Isabell backed away slowly.

Olivia pinned her to a wall, she then breathed slowly and looked up at a terrified Isabell.

‘I’ve got to…’

Isabell then looked at the worried Olivia and nodded, letting Olivia do what must be done.

REMINISCERE MEMORIA!’

Isabell screamed, her eyes were rolling, then stopped.

‘Who-who are you?’ Isabell asked Olivia.

‘Oh no. What have I done?’

‘Ha! I’m kidding, you fell for it!’ Isabell laughed, but then stopped and looked shocked.

Olivia collapsed on the bed and started to laugh.

‘Never do that again- what?’

But when Olivia saw Isabell’s expression, she realised that she was regaining memory of everything that happened in the past. Tears started to form.

‘Thank you…’

Amelia entered the room, then saw Olivia and Isabell looking at each other, Isabell crying and Olivia nervous.

‘What happened here?’

Both of the girls looked up at a confused Amelia.

‘Guys… Why are you both silent?’

‘Amelia, this is what we wanted to show you, well, what I wanted to show you,’ Olivia said as she pointed her wand towards a bewildered Amelia.

‘What- What are you doing?’

Reminiscere Memoria!’

‘What-’

Amelia screamed and her eyes rolled like Isabell before. She then stopped screaming and looked at Olivia in horror.

‘My stepmother, is my mother’s sister?’

Isabell looked surprised because she didn’t know about the other memory Olivia had seen.

‘Y-yes?’

‘A-and, V-Voldemort was the one who actually killed my mother?’

‘Well-’

Amelia’s eyes were now swimming with tears as images in her mind were created. Her mother screaming, Voldemort laughing, Mr. Clearwater looking pale as he looked at his dead wife… Mr. Ollivander defending her from her stepmom…

Amelia burst into tears when she remembered the scene when her stepmom uncovered her dead mother’s body.

‘Shush, Amelia…’

Amelia looked at Olivia. That was what Mr. Clearwater had said when her mother was killed. She hugged Isabell and Olivia as she let all those tears get away from her.
