Chapter 31
Seeker for the win!
It was six forty-five on the first of October morning.
‘COME ON, WE ARE RUNNING LATE!’ Amelia screamed.
‘Relax Ame-’ began Isabell.
‘I AM NOT RELAXING!’
‘Ok, ok.’
They all rapidly went down the round steps, through almost all of Hogwarts and to the Quidditch platform. They all saw that Roger Davies and two more boys were already there, Amelia recognized them as the two other chasers.
‘Sorry… if we’re late,’ Amelia panted as Isabell and Olivia rushed next to her.
‘No, you’re just on time,’ said Roger, checking his watch. ‘It’s 6:59 actually.’
‘Phew!’ said Olivia. ‘Good luck.’
‘Yeah,’ whispered Isabell, and she high-fived Amelia.
‘Thanks.’
The rest of the team came and more people from Ravenclaw came and joined Olivia and Isabell in the seats at the end of the stadium. Albert had come to see it too.
Isabell, Olivia and Albert heard Roger tell instructions to the confident team, with their chests high up.
‘And… GO!’ they heard Roger yell.
‘I heard Roger really likes Cho,’ sighed a fourth- year Ravenclaw girl.
She was sitting next to Isabell, who looked disgusted.
‘Blegh!’ Isabell said. ‘I hope she does actually beat him with her stick or whatever that is.’
‘It’s not a stick for your information Isabell,’ Olivia said. ‘It’s a beater’s bat. The beater’s job is to keep the Bludgers away from their team and at the same time try and aim the Bludgers towards the opposite team.’
‘Yeah, who cares, it doesn’t matter,’ said Isabell, still laughing at the Ravenclaw fourth-year’s face.
‘Just be quiet and watch the training for Amelia’s sake,’ Olivia said as she glanced at the pitch to see where Amelia was.
Then Isabell and Olivia saw Amelia zoom past them, chasing a small, golden ball which looked like it had wings.
‘That’s the golden snitch,’ Olivia said as Albert pointed at it.
‘Why are there Slytherins here?’ asked Isabell, looking at the chairs opposite them.
‘Uh-oh,’ Olivia said.
‘ROGER!’ Isabell shouted.
‘What? Is it very urgent?’ said an impatient Roger, coming down from his broom.
‘There are Slytherins spying!’ Olivia whisper-shouted.
‘OI! That is our training place right now!’ he said as he glared at the laughing Slytherins in pure loath.
Roger told Madam Hooch, then she was shouting at the Slytherins for a while. The whole pitch was filled with her loud yelling (because of the echoes) that the students had to cover their ears before their ear drums could explode.
‘GET TO YOUR CLASSES!’ she yelled. ‘YOU DID NOT BOOK THIS PITCH!’
‘What happened?’ said a panting Amelia, also coming down from her broom.
‘Slytherins,’ muttered an angry Isabell.
‘Let me guess, Draco and his big ‘gorilla gang’ went on to the pitch to spy on us, along with other Slytherins and the Pug Pansy.’
‘Exactly.’
Isabell and Olivia were laughing so hard that a few students on the pitch stared at them in curiosity.
‘It’s time to continue training,’ Roger said as he mounted his broom and reached the dull skies.
‘You know you don’t have to watch training if you don’t want to,’ said Amelia, frowning.
‘Are you kidding? I would love to watch!’ Isabell said as she kept laughing.
Amelia grinned and mounted her broom, searching for the golden snitch.
‘I’ve actually never been to a quidditch training or match before, so I guess I’ll stay,’ said Olivia, also still laughing.
‘I have been to one Quidditch World Cup with my dad,’ Isabell sighed.
Olivia reckoned that she was thinking about the death of her mother. Olivia patted Isabell on her weak shoulders.
‘It’s alright, your mother is still here,’ Olivia said as she pointed to where Isabell’s pure white heart was.
‘I guess,’ Isabell said as Olivia handed her a tissue.
