School Supplies

Isabell and Mrs. Bluesky stepped towards Diagon Alley. Isabell saw a girl with silky black hair, who was walking with an oversized human, the figure was huge! Behind them was a blonde girl who seemed to be doing the shopping alone and was looking slightly nervous. Isabell and her mother went to get the school books. They entered the shop: Flourish And Blotts.

‘Hmm… You need about… thirteen books!’ Mrs. Bluesky exclaimed as she read through the list. The list read:

Dear students, the necessary books are:

  • The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1 by Miranda Goshawk

  • A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot

  • Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling

  • A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration by Emeric Switch

  • One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi by Phyllida Spore

  • Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger

  • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander

  • The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection by Quentin Trimble

They swiftly scanned through the shop and found the necessary books. They exited the shop and were carrying a lot of books. Isabell kept huffing. A girl who looked about 6 years older than Isabell used her wand to make the books levitate.

Mrs. Bluesky and Isabell then got her school robes, a brown owl (Isabell named it Mocha, which meant a type of coffee made from a specific coffee bean- which was brown) and went to Mr. Ollivander’s to buy a wand.

‘Hello, Mr… (Mrs. Bluesky looked at his desk and at a small badge that seemed to be stuck to it) Ollivander,’ said Mrs. Bluesky as they walked in the shop.

‘Good afternoon, Mrs. Bluesky (this made Mrs. Bluesky shocked). Your daughter, I see, is going to Hogwarts?’

‘Y- yes, Mr. Ollivander.’

‘Naughty little boy her father was,’ chuckled Mr. Ollivander.

Mrs. Bluesky laughed, and so did Isabell, who was grinning.

‘Wait, really?’ asked Isabell, thinking Mr. Ollivander was joking. ‘Dad always said that he was amazing and all that.’

‘Well, adults can lie about their true personalities, and your poor father had no friends but your sweet mother who wasn’t even in Hogwarts, poor thing.’

‘Wait, so you think my mother is a stupid Muggle who doesn’t know a thing about magic?’ chirped Isabell angrily.

‘No- no, Mr. Ollivander didn’t mean that, did you?’ coughed Mrs. Bluesky, glaring at him, but looking sad as well.

‘Of-of course not, I would never…’ mumbled Mr. Ollivander nervously.

‘Good, let’s get this over with then, which wand will be my daughter’s?’

‘Now, let’s see… ah, this one should do,’ Mr. Ollivander said as he handed Isabell a dark brown wand.

It did nothing. She tried some more. They did nothing.

‘Don’t worry, we’ll find you a perfect wand.’

Mr. Ollivander got out a small, rectangular box. He opened it and took out a wand. The tip of the wand was slightly paler and it looked as though someone had sprinkled glitter on it.

Nine inches long, made of a pine tree and has a core of unicorn hair.’

As soon as Isabell touched the wand, it began to glow and shiver. It shot sparks of pink and white; they looked like fireworks.

‘Woah, thank you!’ Isabell beamed.

‘Have-have a nice year at Hogwarts…’ Mr. Ollivander hesitated, looking guilty from what he had said before.

Mrs. Bluesky grinned.

‘Thank you, Mr. Ollivander,’ Mrs. Bluesky thanked as she and Isabell  walked out of the shop.
