Platforms 9 and 10

Chapter 11

Platforms 9 and 10

Amelia went home to pack her trunk then was dropped off by her parents to King’s Cross Station.

‘Just pass through platforms 9 and 10, ok?’ her stepmother grumbled impatiently, tapping her feet.

‘But-’ began Amelia.

‘Sorry, no time to help, we have a fancy dinner we need to get ready for with the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, and the Malfoys,’ Mr. Clearwater said proudly.

Her stepmother nodded, looking proud and placid too.

‘Oh, ok, bye father! Don’t forget to….’ but he and her stepmother were gone already. ‘...write.’

Amelia heaved her trunk onto the cart , got Bianca, and went to look for Platform 9 and 10.

‘1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6… 7… 8… 9… Aha! Found it!’ yelled Amelia cheerfully.

She waited, trying to figure out how to get in between platform 9 and 10, until a girl with black straight hair that was the length of her waist (which was braided neatly) and had emerald green eyes approached her. Amelia noticed the girl approaching slowly.

Amelia thought the girl was Olivia Dragonheart as she peered at her features closely. Her jaw dropped. The black hair, green eyes, cherry red lips, small round nose and ivory-coloured skin. The same description her father had told her… Yes, that was definitely Olivia Dragonheart. If only Olivia knew the dark secret that Amelia knew-

‘Hello, do you know where platform 9 and-’

‘You are Olivia Dragonheart, are you not?’ Amelia interrupted quickly. ‘You’re very famous you know!’

‘I’m that famous? Well, anyways- yes, I’m Olivia Dragonheart.’

‘Yeah, you’re almost as famous as Harry Potter! But nevermind that, nice to meet you, Olivia. I am Amelia Clearwater, a pureblood,’ Amelia introduced herself.

‘Nice… I heard that purebloods weren’t so nice but nevermind-’

‘Well… Most of them. You were asking about platform 9 and ¾?’

‘Where is it?’

‘Oh, just through this wall- Oh no! Let’s go, there are three minutes left for the train to leave. Come on!’ Amelia gulped anxiously.

Olivia nodded hesitantly.

‘You come after me, ok? On three. One… two… three, GO!’ Amelia ordered, taking a deep breath. She passed through the wall, revealing platform 9 and ¾.

Olivia came after her shortly. They almost collided into each other. Amelia laughed, shaking her head and Olivia grinned.

‘Better be careful next time,’ said Olivia, straightening herself quickly.

‘Yeah, we could’ve died!’ Amelia said ironically.

Olivia laughed.

They swiftly hurried towards the station, when they came to a girl who had fallen and her belongings (which fell out of her leather trunk) was in a mess.

‘Need any help?’ Olivia asked the girl.

‘Yeah I guess,’ muttered the girl. ‘Thanks!’ the girl added as Amelia and Olivia helped her get up.

‘I’m Isabell Bluesky, who’re you?’

‘Olivia-’ began Olivia.

‘Dragonheart?’ continued Isabell.

‘Yep, and she’s Amelia Clearwater.’

‘A Clearwater?’ asked Isabell. ‘Must be a pure-blood, am I correct?’

‘Sure you are. Now please can we go? Don’t want to miss our only chance to Hogwarts!’

‘Oh, yeah! Let’s go.’
