Dr. John Fryer, also known as Dr. Henry Anonymous, made a speech on May 2nd, 1972, in front of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). He put on a mask and a suit that was so big on him it was almost comical, and, with a voice distorting microphone, he proudly started his speech with "I am a homosexual. I am a psychiatrist."
His speech was pivotal to declassifying homosexuality as a psychiatric disorder. He got a standing ovation, and will forever be remembered as a hero.
