Lyra Malfoy and the Power of Time

written by Luna

This is a fanfiction I wrote a long time ago. Sorry, it's kind of badly written, but the storyline is good!

The Letters

Chapter 4

That year passed quickly and nothing unusual happened. I stayed with Frillen and Michelin over the holidays. Halfway through the second year though we had to choose our new classes for the next three years which would affect our times tables. Me, Frillen, and Michelin, sat down together and discussed. The options were this.

Subject

Teacher

Care of magical creatures

Professor Ketleburn

Divanation

Professor Trelawney

Arithmancy

Professor Vector

Muggle Studies

Professor Burbage

Ancient Runes

Professor

We decided to do Care of magical creatures, and Divination.

On the Halloween weekend, though, third years were allowed to go to Hogsmeade if they had a signed form from the parent/guardian. Me, Frillen, and Michelin, went there and when we went to the post office, which had tons of owls, all color coded for when you wanted them to arrive. I suddenly had an idea. The latest owls were for right at the time I had left for Hogwarts, I knew if I sent one to my grandmother right now, using those owls I could contact her. Of course, she wouldn’t be able to contact me, but it was still good. When Frillen and Michelin wanted to leave to go to Zonko’s, I told them I had to send a quick letter, and I would meet them in Honeydukes. I wrote the letter saying this

Hi momgrandma!

I’m in my third year at hogwarts,

I found two great friends named Frillen and Michelin and I've been staying with them

over the holidays.

Their parents signed the permission form.

The way I sent/I’m sending this is

In the post office there are tons of owls

And they are all color coded for when you want them

To arrive. I’m using the latest ones so they get to you at the right time.

I don’t think that you can send letters to to me because the

Owls can’t go slower than time itself.

If you can think of a way to contact me, definitely use IT*,

Lot’s of love,

Lily Lyra

(the date is November 2, 1974)

When I met up with Frillen and Michelin in Honeydukes they seemed very happy. “We found a secret passage,” Frillen whispered, “follow us.”

They went behind the bar of Honeydukes and went down some steps. Through the Honeydukes cellar they found a trapdoor and they went inside. “Guys, I need to tell you something,” I said.

I told them all about that I was from the future and that the letter I had was for my mom. At the end, Frillen’s jaw was hanging open and Michelin looked like she was about to faint. “Can you think of any way she can contact me?” I asked.

“Well,” Frillen said, “unfortunately, no.”

That night however, I realized something. That boy with blond hair. He is Lucias Malfoy. He’s my grandfather. He is Voldemort's servant.

The next morning when the post owls came, an owl came to me and dropped a letter on my plate. The moment I opened it my mouth dropped open, it read.

Dear Lyra,

This is from your mom Hermione Jean Granger

I am so sorry I abandoned you,

Can you please do me a favor

Send a letter for the summer of 1997 addressed to your grandmother’s

House and say it is for

Draco Malfoy,

Say you are sorry that he must die

And say that you will always love

Him. oh, and the way I sent this letter is that in hogwarts,

There is a secret box that doesn’t have time.

If you put a letter in there it will have been there for all of time.

But then it will immediately disappear

because an owl for when it is supposed to arrive will already

have come down to pick it up and deliver it.

Cool right? Can you send me letters as well?

Contact the Minister for Magic and owls will find me.

XOXO,

Your true mother,

Hermione Jean Granger

P.S. The date is January 3, 2012,

“What is it?” Michelin asked.

I handed them the letter and they read together. When they were done reading they seemed just as stunned as I was. “Go to the secret passage, asap,” I said.

Once we were somewhere private we discussed. “I think you should say yes,” they said at the same time as I said, “I think I should say yes.”

“Well, we know what you're doing,” Frillen said.

“Well,” Michelin said, “When do you want to send it?”

“Come on,” I said, “we're doing it right now.”
