A Gay’s Gaze at Hogwarts: Issue #4

A Gay’s Gaze at Hogwarts is a weekly publication aimed at the LGBTQ+ community here at HiH. In this issue; a surprisingly small number of posts in the LGBTQIA+ HIH Community club, Tom Felton announcing that he’s writing a memoir, and an exclusive interview with a candidate for the Slytherin Head House Representative!

Could it Be?

Chapter 6

Welcome back to Could it Be? Today, we'll be looking at one of my favorite LGBTQ+ Harry Potter headcanons: Nonbinary Luna Lovegood.

Now, full disclaimer--I don't have any textual evidence that Luna is nonbinary. She never expressed any discomfort with being a girl. This is more based off of what we know about Luna as a person.

Luna has never conformed to any societal norms--like, ever. So why would gender be any different? I honestly just don't think Luna would care about gender (I also headcanon them as being pansexual for this reason). This would also explain why Luna never minded she/her pronouns or being called a girl--she just couldn't be bothered.

Personally, I think Luna would use all pronouns--again, going along with the theme of not caring about gender.

And honestly, that's really the only argument I have for Nonbinary Luna. I do think it's a strong argument, but I understand that that might not be enough for some people, which is totally fine!

Well, that's all for this week's edition of Could it Be?. I hope you enjoyed! Please owl me with your favorite LGBTQ+ Harry Potter headcanons, or post them in the A Gay's Gaze club, AGGatH Readers--I'm planning on doing more than one per issue doing Pride Month! I'd especially love more trans headcanons, just to spite Rowling.
