Herbology 101: Lesson 9 Herbology Intertwined (in progress)

Chapter 10

Year one, Lesson 9 fundamentals of flora: Groundwork
Herbology is intertwined with other disciplines:
Astronomy:
The moon and the stars have influence on plants! there are nocturnal plants and plants that need to be harvested in a certain moonphase.

Charms:
Charms can be used on plants, it can augment the growth or make them blooms prettier, but can also just be for entertainment (like a mistletoe that doesn't let you go unless you kiss someone....)

Care of magical creatures
Plants are at the bottom of the food chain, making them essential for the survival of animals too. Certain plants attract certain animals, it's important to know which ones.

Defense against the Dark arts
Field curses: these are curses on plants, for example a cursed poppy that will strange a passerby. Effects can be: hunger, deep sleep, hallucinations, confusion etc.

Another way plants are used is in poisons.

Divination
Lots of divination arts use herbs, but not all divinationers are respectful towards herbology.

Potions
Herbs are of course used in potions, therfore the disciplines are strongly connected.
