The Basics: How to do classes? How to do quizzes?
Chapter 1
Hello!
Welcome to this study guide for Herbology 101. In this guide I wil show you step by step how to do your homework, explaing what is said in the classes and will help you with studying.
Who is the professor?
First it is important to know who our teacher is: Professor Aspen! He is the Herbology professor this year, and will be supported by PA's. PA stands for Professor Assistent, which means they assist the professor with grading and answering question.
Questions
Speaking of questions, if you ever have any you can owl the professor or the PA's by going to their profile (click on their name) and click on 'send message'. You may also message me with questions.
How do I do classes?
On the left side of your screen you see a category 'Academics', click on itm then go to 'Course Catalogue'. Here you can see all the classes you can take as a first year. You can click on any to see if you like it. If you want to 'enroll' (that means join), you go to the course and at the right side of the screen you see a yellow box with 'enroll'inside it. Click on that and you are now in the class!
How do I do lessons?
Now that you are enrolled, you can do your first lesson. For Herbology that is:
'1) Welcome to Herbology'
Start the lesson by clicking on it, then pressing 'Open Lesson'.
The text you see now is your lesson. The first lesson usually has introductionary information (like this chapter). On the right side of your screen you can see the quizzes and essay for that lesson.
How do I do quizzes?
You can do a quiz by clicking on the purple letters above the word quiz on the right side of your screen. For Herbology 1 that is the quiz:
'1.1 Herbology Groundwork'
All the information you need for the right answers are in the lesson. The quiz will be partly choice questions and partly open questions. That means that there are going to be statements/questions where you just have to click if it's true of false, and questions where you have to type your answer.
Don't forget to click the 'submit'button, if you don't you won't hand in your quiz and won't be graded.
What are grades?
The quizzes are graded with a percentage. If you have every question right, you get 100% on your quiz. Don't worry if it doesn't go well, you will get another chance at your next quiz. All your grades for that class (in this case Herbology) will be added up and an average number will be calculated, that number will be your grade at the end of the year. Important note: The essays are optional, that means that you don't have to do the essays to be allowed to the second year. It is good practise though, and it's fun!
I don't speak English?
If english is not your first language you may put '(NES)'at the top of you essays and use a translator from your native language to english, for example Google translate. You type your essay in your native language and change it to english in the translator. Then put the translated text into your essay box and submit it. If you put (NES) at the top of your essay, the grammer and spelling won't be considered in the grading.
