Fire Crabs –
falls under the beast category and its classified as XXX. It resembles a large tortoise and has grey-green shell that is
covered in jewels. There are a few different variants of this creature. For
example the jewels on its shell include: rubies, emeralds, and sapphires. It
also has gray skin and black eyes. They are native to Fiji and are a protected
species. They must be protected from muggles who would find great value in the shell
and from witches and wizards. The shell could also become a prized cauldron.
Many are sold and exported as pets in order to become an owner of one, you must
go and obtain a special license. When they are attacked or provoked they will
shoot fire out of their rear ends in defense.
When
handling these creatures there are some safety measures you should take:
- Wear dragonhide gloves
- Do not wear loose clothing
- Do not make any sudden movements
- Do not stand behind the creature. Always stay as close to its front
as you can get. - Always have your wand on hand, but in a safe place.
You can always use a weak knockback jinx or for a more
experienced witch or wizard a water spell.
Fun fact: Rubeus Hagrid once
bred a fire crab with a Manticore. The result was a Blast-Ended Skrewt, an
extremely dangerous creature when fully grown.
Werewolves only
pose a real threat to humans. They are less likely to attack an animal. It is
best to avoid a werewolf during their transformation. If you do not and you get
bitten, there is only so much you can do. There is no cure for being a
werewolf, you can only treat the wound.
There are a few steps to take to avoid infection:
- Firstly, get to a safe place. You can’t properly clean the wound
until you are safe. - Rinse the wound under cool water for 2 minutes.
- Wash the bite with soap for 5 minutes.
- Let it air dry.
- Apply an antibacterial potion and let dry.
- Apply a healing potion, such as Essence of Dittany. If you do not
have one, contact the nearest magical medical facility. - Cover the wound with an appropriately sized bandage.
- Change the bandage and apply more salve every 4 hours.
- A potion to help with pain may be used.
If an infection occurs, go to the nearest magical medical
facility.
Signs of infection
- Feverish skin around the bite
- Dark red skin around the bite
- Pus draining from the bite
- Abnormal swelling that does not go down
