Lesson Three

Chapter 3

Today I decided to practise the unlocking charm first. This charm is used for unsealing both magical and regular locks. I decided my target would be a small non-magically locked box on my desk which I keep my good quills in. I performed the spell by uttering the word "alohomora" while moving my wand in a backward S shape, making sure it curved up at the end. The result was that the box opened up easily. After moving my quills to an undisclosed location I decided to try out the spell again on a magical lock a friend leant me. Again, I performed the incantation and the wand movement, trying to be as precise as possible. The result was the same as before.

Afterwards I then practised the mending charm. The purpose of the charm is to repair non-magical items. For this I tore up a piece of scrap paper. I said the word "reparo" and motioned my wand in an inward spiral while visualising the paper as it was beforehand. The result was that the tear was fixed.

My overall thoughts on this practise was that it was my most successful so far. My target for future lessons is to continue trying to be precise with wand movements.
