The Secret
Chapter 3
Tom looked at me, confused. “ What secret?” He looked scared but curious at the same time. “ Well, if u must know, Follow me, and I’ll show you.” I walked down the hallway, turned in my Papa’s old office, and stopped. “ Tom, u coming?!” I hollered from down the hall. “ Yeah, im coming!” Tom came jogging down the hall and to the room. “ Woah, this is a cool room.” Tom looked at the room and then finally looked at me. “ sorry, I was admiring the room; it’s on the way home from school. Want to see something really cool.” I smile. “ This room isn’t all that’s cool.” I walked over to the Deer head on the wall and pulled one of the antlers, and all of a sudden, the division moved. I looked over at Tom; he looked surprised but amazed at the same time.” Now, Tom, u can’t tell anyone what you’re about to see, Ok?” I look and him, then tap him on the shoulder.”Ok?” He looked at me “ O-ok, I won’t tell anyone.” I walked inside the hidden room and walked to a closet, opened it, and grabbed 2 uniforms. “Here, take this” I hand one of the Uniforms to Tom. “Thanks,” he said. I continued to walk down the hall and then stopped. “Here where u stop talking to me and just follow and listen, got it!?” Tom nodded. “Good now, welcome to Kisa Academy. It was founded back in 1800 as a place for Mafias to train and learn, but later on, it became a school to teach the youth to kill and rid the world of impurities. It was all well till we had to move locations for we were caught by the cops cuz some Rat told the cops where we were. Now there are 4 rules here u must live by. 1) NEVER TELL ANYONE WHERE WE’RE LOCATED 2)NO UNSANCTIONED KILLING 3)DON'T UNHOLSTER YOUR WEAPON DURING SCHOOL 4)NO RELATIONSHIPS OR PERSONAL CONTACT UNLESS FOR A ASSIGNMENT. Understood?! Tom, if you break these rules or even one, you’ll be the assignment.”Tom looked at me a nodded.”YO Edith WHOS THE NEW RAT WITH U! A guy down the hall yelled. I roll my eyes and reply, “ALAN GET TO CLASS! I DON’T HAVE TIME TO GIVE U A PUNISHMENT SO TAKE THIS AS A WARNING!”Alan looked at me and winked, then ran to class. Who was that?”Tom asked. I whipped my head around.”Listen, Rat, u don’t talk u; listen. Got it, Rat.” I looked at him, wishing I could stick him in my legacy, but I couldn’t. Tom nodded and walked behind me in silence. I looked back, feeling bad but knowing that if I didn't do that, I'd be killed… I'll explain it to him later when we’re back home. As we walked, I heard mumbling coming from behind me. I turned and looked at what it was, Tom talking to himself. I stopped, turned around, grabbed Tom’s arm, and walked to the rooftop.”OK, what’s wrong, Tom. I can tell somethings wrong.”Tom ripped his arms from my hands, “It’s happening again…” I looked at him, confused. He continued, “At the boys' home, they’d have their own leagues, and they’d always beat on me for not joining any of them.”I understood what he was talking about.“Tom, I know what u mean. I’d let u join mine but IDK if they’d let u in.” I stared at him.“It's a whole process.”Tom continued looking at me with saddened eyes. “Then allow me to fit in.”I looked at him and then smiled. “I have an idea..” Suddenly, Alan bursts through the door and has Tom against the wall” ALAN, BACK THE HELL OFF!!” I pulled out my knife and threw it at him, piercing his shoulder pinning him to the wall. “ WTF, Edith! WHY ARE U DEFENDING A RAT!?” Alan yelled at me. “ MAYBE CUZ HE’S IN OUR LEGACY” Tom looked at me, confused as to why Alan was attacking him, he had just got there, and he was already in a fight. As Alan and I argued over Tom being here, he seemed to back away till he was on the other side of the rooftop, repeating, “This can’t happen again. It just can’t.” For Tom’s aura, this didn’t seem like himself. When you first see him, you’d think he’d be there to help melt your problems away as you chat for what feels like minutes but turns into hours till one of you passes out. But in that glimpse of time, he seemed like he couldn’t decide between hiding himself from the world or breaking down for everyone to see. As Alan nagged on about only God knows what, he followed where my eyes were focussed and stopped. The only sounds we heard were sirens, the wings of pigeons, and our breathing. I spoke up first, “Alan, this is Tom, he’ll be our newest member. He doesn’t seem like much right now, but we’ll make him something, right?”. ”Like hell, we will,” Alan replied. I grabbed my knife and twisted it, making his shoulder wound worse. He yelped, “Alright!! I get it, just remove the damn knife already; I can feel it chipping in me”. “Say you’re sorry, show him the classrooms, and take him to the lost and found closet for a “defense” weapon. Got it? Also, now that you mention it, I could use a new knife, couldn’t I?”. You see, my knife’s very particular. It’s a Jagdkommando, forged from stainless steel into a fascinating spiral design. The 8-inch blade is meant for stabbing and piercing.“If you could, Alan, find me a good backup till I can afford a repair kit for this.”, “Fine, but if you must know, I have a date.” Alan said with confidence as he pulled out my knife and handed it over.“You have a date? Which “woman of your dreams” has you wrapped around her finger this time?”. “For YOUR information, she’s different.” “Oh really, you’ve said that so many times that it’s starting to lose meaning.” “SO? I mean it this time. She’s a bit special, though. She seems weird and crazy to others, but to me, she means well on every decision”. “Well then, what’s this “special” girl’s name?”. “Her name’s Lucille Gayle. She’s a transfer student from Ireland. Apparently, her family sent her over with enough money to sign up for any school she wanted, but she lost it all during an encounter with one of the gangs. So I offered to help, and here we are. Oh, speaking of Lucille, I set a meeting for the three of us. But with this twat, I'd guess that makes it a double-date”. When he said the word “date,” I saw Tom blush a little and look towards me; I quickly looked away and felt my cheeks getting warm. “This isn’t going to be a date, it's for business and business only, right Tom?” When he heard it I saw his body deflate in disappointment, “Yeah, I guess.” I looked to Alan, “Don’t try anything with her, I get that you two are ‘together” but this is a business meeting, save ‘that’ for a different time. Plus don’t forget about R4, they figure out about that, and both of you are in for a treat.”.“Don’t worry about it; after this meeting, we’re keeping this on the down-low.”. Those are the famous words for it going to be known to everyone who dares to ask. This is not gonna end well.
