Trouble
Chapter 2
My mum walked in and asked what id been up to. I told her I was just working on my homework and picking up my room. That story would have worked if she hadn’t seen the first aid kit I forgot to hide. “Hey, what’s the first aid kit out for?” she asked suspiciously. I panicked and said, “ O-oh, I just cut my arm and need to patch it up. That’s all. I’m ok. I just needed a band-aid.” I knew I had screwed up when she looked to the corner and saw Tom; well, she saw my chair and was curious she walked over and ripped off the blanket. “Hi,” Tom said with a smile as he bolted up and over behind me. “So that’s your Mum. She looks a bit stressed but nice.” he giggled, then smiled. I looked up at him, and he was looking at me with a big smile. I couldn’t help but smile back, but the moment was ruined when my mum yelled, “ Edith, WHO THE HECK IS THIS BOY IN YOUR ROOM!I REMEBER I TOLD U NO BOYS!” She walked up to me, about to slap me, when suddenly,.” Tom blocked her. “ Hey Edith, u ok?.” he looked down at me, worried and angry. “Y- yeah, I’m ok, Tom” I looked at my mum; she had rage in her eyes. “ M-mum, i-im sorry, please just don’t hurt him” I got up and put my arm in front of Tom. “Edith, get out of the way, or I swear to god I will slap the shit out of u!” she yelled. “No, im not letting you hurt him, Mum. He’s already hurt enough! So please don’t hurt him, hurt me, not him.” I could feel Tom’s gaze on my back as I said that. “Edith, no.” Tom put his hand on my shoulder and pulled me back.“Miss, I understand you’re mad at her, but it’s my fault, not hers. She just wanted to help me, that’s all..” Suddenly Tom. started to fall. I reached my arms out and caught him. “Tom! Are u ok?!” I stare at him as he looks at me and flinches in pain. “ my side, u, you, didn’t finish stitching it. I think it’s starting to tear again.” He groaned in pain as I saw blood forming on his shirt. I quickly turned, grabbed my chair, and placed Tom down. As I went to grab the first aid, my mum got in the way. “ No Edith, u have no clue how this boy got these wounds! How do u know if he’s not an asesino?” my mum said nervously. “Mum, I don’t think he’s an asesino. He’s too kind and caring. Plus, I don’t care! he’s hurt, and I need to help him. You remember what papá said “ if anyone is hurt, we must help even if they are asesino or psicópatas. We are kind people, and we help the hurt.”Well, Tom's hurt, and I'm listening to Papa!” I turned to Tom, and he looked shocked. “ What?”I asked Tom. He shook his head and said “I am no assassin or psycho. I can promise u that. I just come from a bad home that was violent.” As he said that, he lifted his shirt, looked down at the stitches, and then looked up at me “ do u guys have a stapler?” I looked at him confused “yeah we have a stapler” I reached over and grabbed the stapler on my desk“ Here I have it. But first, tell me why u need it.”He looked at me “ to close up the wound, I figure stitching it won’t help so why not staple it shut? It worked in the past, so its gotta work now.” He looked at me with hopeful eyes. “ Tom, ill staple them shut with a surgical stapler but first, I have to sew it shut. It helps it heal a bit before u staple it.” Tom looked at me with a sparkle in his eye, and I couldn’t help but giggle. “What’s so funny, Edith? Is it my hair?” He chuckled as I told him, “it’s the sparkle in your eye.” Tom just smiled and then looked at my mum. “I know you hate that your daughter brought me home and stuck me in her room, but I promise u nothing happened she’s just fixing me up, and then I’ll be on my way.” Tom looked at me with a mysterious look, then winked. I wonder what the look meant. I looked down at the table and then up at my mum. “ Mum, leave now, I need to finish this, and I don’t want u around.” I looked at her with anger in my eyes. “Fine, I’ll go, but if this boy makes one move on you, it’s game over for him. Got it” She looked at me, then turned to Tom. “ And u boy, don’t even think about making a move on my daughter, or I swear to god I'll cut your tongue out and feed it to my dogs. She looked at me in, waiting for a response. “I promise he won’t try to make a move, but mum, I don’t think after I'm done that he should go back to his home till it fully heals. “ Mum looked at me and shook her head yes. “Mum, you are the best!” I smiled and ran and hugged Tom, but then remembered he was still hurt, so I let go.“ Sorry, I got a bit excited.” I smile, embarrassed. “Hey, it’s fine. But what did your mum agree to?” he looked at me with wonder. “Oh, she was just saying u can stay till u heal, but that’s only if u want to,” I say shyly, hoping he’d say yes. “I don’t see why it would be an issue. But I don’t want to be a burden to u and your mum.”I look at him and smile. “Tom, your no burden to mum and me. I can promise that. But there’s a secret in this family that only me and mum know.”He looked at me, and I knew I had chosen right…
