Biography about Zoë Wanamaker (Miss Bibine) - Biography

Chapter 3

Zoë Wanamaker is the daughter of Sam Wanamaker, an American actor and director, and Charlotte Holland, a Canadian actress. His paternal grandparents were Ukrainian Jewish immigrants who had settled in Chicago. Both of her parents were Jewish but she received a secular education.


 


At the age of 3, she left the United States when her father was blacklisted during McCarthyism. She is struggling at school and is diagnosed with dyslexia. She is allowed to stop taking math lessons, "There was no hope ... I had gone to the fairy world!" "


 


At school, she decides to become an actress. Years later, she entered the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. She quickly found success by receiving a Tony Award for the play, Once in a Lifetime.


 


In 2000, she obtained British nationality especially to be made Commander of the Order of the British Empire
