I Told You So

Chapter 18

On the way down to dinner, Lils, Jinxy, and I argued on who was better,
Caspian, Peter, or Edmund (EDMUND!!). We entered the Great Hall, still
bickering. Finally, I just gave up.

"I'm sitting with Narcissa," and I added under my breath, "Edmund haters."

I resisted laughter as my friends gaped at me.

"I
do like Edmund, just not as much as Caspian," Lils protested. I sat
next to Narcissa at the Slytherin Table. There were no objections from
Bellatrix, Rodolphus, or Rabastan. Although, Antonin, Dholov, Crabbe,
Goyle, and Yaxley all groaned.

"Hullo, Serana. How are you?" Narcissa asked me.

"Fine,
thanks Narcissa? How about you?" This was the consistency of the
awkwardness between us. It was all we could get out at the time being.
She smiled at me. I had never thought the day would come when Narcissa
smiled at me. Well, at least not in a teasingly way. But, even though we
were 'friends', I was still afraid at any random point, Bellatrix would
pull out her dagger and start cutting me with it. I feared that the
others would start beating me up again and teasing me again. The scars
on my arm and leg tingled slightly. My hand involuntarily shot to clutch
my arm. Narcissa sighed a little.

"I know it's hard to trust us,
I do understand. But I know I won't hurt you. I promise," She started
eating again. A slight smile creeped up my face.

"Excuse me, but
that happens to be my seat, you filthy blood-traitor," a voice snarled
behind me. I immediately felt uncomfortable and out of place. I put down
my fork.

"Lusious! Let her sit," Narcissa told her boyfriend.

"No,
no. I'll go. I'll go somewhere where I'm more wanted. I don't want to
be the source of your fighting," I got up and headed towards the
Hufflepuff Table.

"Rain! Hey, I was wondering if over this Summer
you'd like to come over to Ted and My house. 'Dromeda will be there of
course," Tonks beamed at me from across from me as I sat down.

"I'd love to! That'd be lovely!" I grinned back.

"Ooh!
Where's Serana!" A weeping voice filled my ears. My head did its own
thing and turned around. There, standing next to Lils and Jinxy, was a
sobbing Marlene.

"Be right back," I told Tonks, Ted, and 'Dromeda. I rushed over to my home table.

"Marlene?
Are you ok?" Both me and Lils asked her. Jinxy shot me a
'since-when-were-you-here?' look as I placed myself across from her and
Lils. Marlene ran around the table and hugged me tight, her tears soaked
my robes almost instantly.

"I'm...so...so...sor-sorry! I
did-didn't mea-mean anything I sa-said about you-you!" She wailed. After
a few awkward seconds, I hugged her back.

"What's wrong?" I
whispered. She pulled away and wiped her eyes. Slowly, she sat next to
me, her legs folded under her while her hands were trembling on her lap.
There was mascara running down her cheeks, her eyes were red and puffy,
and her nose was running terribly, as if someone put the Bogie hex on
her.

"I was in-in our dorm when I heard...I head Sirius, Remus,
Peter and James talking downstairs. I decided to-to see what they were
talking about. So I crept slowly down the stairs."

Marlene's POV (30 minutes Previously):

"Padfoot's
in loove! Padfoot's in loove!" Remus teased. My heart fluttered. Sirius
loved me? It couldn't be any other girl, I was his girlfriend.

"Eclipse
is a good girl. I'm glad you like her," James joined in. Eclipse? Where
had I heard that name before? No one every called me Eclipse. What was
going on? I leaned in closer to get better hearing.

"I don't know
if I love her. There's this feeling in my chest every time I see her,
but then she looks at me. It's a usually never a glare, but...it's
like...pity. I know, when she used to look at me, I saw adoration and
love, but now-"

"Ok, dude, you like her, it's obvious. We don't need a commentary," James protested.

"But...I'm Sirius Black! I don't love girls! I love snogging them!" Sirius exclaimed.

"You do love this one," Remus obviously was stiffling laughs.

"But
what about Marlene?" Sirius conplained. That's when it hit me. He
wasn't talking about me. Of course he wasn't. Eclipse! That's what Lily
had called her wolf! Her wolf had the same piercing green eyes and
flaming red hair! Eclipse is the wolf, the wolf is Serana, so that means
Eclipse is their name for Serana! At least James'. I couldn't help it.
Tears sprang into my eyes. He used me. Either to get his mind off
Serana, or to get her jealous. He used me. I should have known. Tears
rolled down my cheeks. I hiccuped.

"Who's there?" James called
out. I ran down the stairs and to the portrait. I looked back once, just
for a split second. Sirius' face was full of shock and something
else...relief? Grief? Pain? I had no clue because my eyes were blurred
with tears. I ran out of the Commen Room and to the Great Hall. I needed
to tell Serana.

Normal POV (Present):

My first
reaction was: 'That son of a twat!' Marlene laughed a little. Both Lils
and I shot each other 'I-Told-You-So' looks. I hugged Malene again as
she started to cry. Was it horrid that I felt a little bit happy? I'm
such a terrible person!

"It's ok, Marlene," Jinxy cooed.

"Yeah, Sirius is just a jerk," Lils added.

"But I-I thought he-he might have actually liked m-me!" She sobbed. I rubbed her back.

"Shh. Shh. He's not worth it. He's worth the pain," I whispered. She nodded.

"I'm
really sorry guys. That other night, I meant nothing I said. You aren't
a cow, Serana, or a traitor. You are beautiful. And you guys are great
friends, always sticking up for each other. That Hufflepuff girl was
right. I am a Slimy Gryffindor. I thought that maybe, just maybe, Sirius
didn't like you, so if I was mean to you, he'd possible like me? But-"
She stopped talking abruptly and burst into more tears. I didn't take a
physicist know why.

"SIRIUS BLACK!" I screamed, standing up and
angrily throwing my napkin onto the table. The entire Great Hall went
quiet. Sirius, James, Remus, and Peter looked uncomfortably scared.

"You
are the most pathetic excuse for a human being I have ever had the
displeasure of meeting! You are an evil twat!" I screeched, running over
to him and grabbing his robes.

"Calm down, babe," he smirked. I
resisted a smile when he called me babe, but I was blushing, just by the
look on is face. I let him go, but shoved him before saying 'Go to
hell'.
