Things He Doesn'T Do
Chapter 14
"Hold up, let me get this straight. Avery, I mean, The Avery, kissed
you. So you got mad and turned into a wolf and attacked him. You then
licked Sirius' face. You couldn't change back, so you went to
Dumbledore. He told you some stuff about what you are, then you came
back here. You yelled at Sirius and you started to cry?" Jinxy recapped.
Lils and I looked at each, then back at Jinxy and nodded.
"Great!" Jinxy clapped her hands together, "who's up for lunch?"
On
the way to the Great Hall, Lils, Jinxy and I laughed, talked, and
smiled. Could a girl ask for anything better than a few good friends
(and a book)? As we entered the Hall, my eyes saw a strange sight.
Tonks, my Tonks, was sitting with two other people, a girl and a boy.
"I'll see you guys in a second," I waved off My friends, not tearing my eyes from Tonks.
"No
way, Rani. You're not going no where without us," Lils snapped her
fingers. I laughed and we made our way to the Hufflepuff Table. I sat
across from Tonks, who was in between the girl and boy.
"Hey, Tonks," I smiled at her.
"Hey Rain," she replied.
"Still making everyone call you Tonks, aye 'Dora?" The boy laughed.
"Shut it, Ted," Tonks growled.
"No need to get all wonky sis, I'm just wondering?" Ted put his hands up innocently.
"Hi! I'm Andromeda, call me 'Dromeda," the girl to Tonks' left beamed.
"Serana Longbottom," I shook her hand.
"Ted Tonks, the awesome older brother of 'Dora," Ted ruffled Tonks' hair, making her glare at him.
"This
is Lily Evans and Ellie Jinx," I introduced my friends. 'Dromeda looked
slightly familiar. I stared at her for a second, before a wave of
realization swept over me, causing me to fall out of my bench.
"You ok, Rani?" Lils asked.
"You're...you're a Black!" I exclaimed pointing an accusing finger at 'Dromeda.
"Like, the he-Blacks or the she-Blacks?" Jinxy whispered.
"She," I whispered back.
"Oh,
yes! Cissy and Bella are my sisters. They hate me, really. I guess, it
because I love muggles and don't care about blood status. Bella, who, by
the way, is my twin, scares the crap out of me. And even though Cissy
is younger than me by two years, she scares the crap out of me too! I
really do hate going home for the holidays. Always there's some
criticism at home, wether it be from Bella, Cissy, mother, father,
auntie, or uncle. The only one's who do seem to point out all my flaws
are Sirius and Regulus, my cousins. Sirius just assumes I'm like
everyone else, so he ignores me. But Reg and I, well, we're closer than
two peas in a pod.
"I've heard about what my sisters do to you,
and let me tell you that I'm truly and utterly sorry. I promise you, I'm
nothing like them. I won't hurt you like they do, I won't judge you,
mock you, beat you, yell at you. I swear," 'Dromeda finished her rant.
Tonks was smiling. I grinned at her and got up, sitting back down.
"Thanks, and, I'm sorry for accusing you of something you didn't want to be apart of," I apologized.
"Nah,
it's fine. Happens all the time," She started eating an omelette. I
almost died. I picked up an omelette of my own and started golfing it
down.
"Pig," someone coughed from behind me. I knew who it was. Marlene McKinnon. I pushed away my plate. Jinxy grabbed her arm.
"Don't call her a pig," she said, staring at her food.
"What?" Marlene snorted.
"I said," Jinxy lifted her head to glare at Marlene, "don't. Call. Serana. A. Pig."
"What?
It's true? Not only is she a pig, she's a cow, ugly, an alien, a nerd,
and a traitor. I mean, sitting with Hufflepuffs? Come on, what the hell
is a Hufflepuff anyway?" Marlene laughed, earning some chuckles from the
Slytherin Table. The entire Hall went quiet as Jinxy, Lils, Ted, Tonks,
and 'Dromeda stood up.
"Shut up, Marlene," Lils warned.
"Oh,
Lily. You could do so much better, than sitting with Hufflepuffs, geeks,
slimeballs, and pigs. Come back to the Gryffindor Table. Join your real
friends," Marlene smiled sweetly. Tears pricked my eyes at the thought
of Lils abandoning me.
"If you are going to insult my friends, you might as well just buck off now," Lils snarled.
"You tell 'er, Lily," 'Dromeda cheered.
"What's this? Is This a Hufflepuff?" Marlene scoffed. "Not much then, is it?"
"Don't you dare say a word against 'Dromeda!" Ted yelled.
"Yeah, she's 100 times better than you, slimy Gryffindor," Tonks sneered.
"Hey! Don't talk to Marlene like that," Sirius. This outraged me. Lifting my eyes from my shoes and standing up, I just burst.
"Marlene
McKinnon, the first day I met you, you were a nice girl. You said 'hi,'
to me with a smile. You said you and Lily had been friends for a while.
I gave you my trust, just then. Now, look what you're doing! Insulting
your 'friend', insulting her friends, insulting your class mates. And,
hey, news flash, we're Gryffindors as well, if you didn't notice. So
just keep your mouth shut, or I might just have to rip your tongue out!"
I screamed before storming out of the Great Hall.
I found a small, secluded corner, and started to cry.
