The chosen one: disclaimer: J. K. Rowling owns Harry Potter. Summary: Follow Casey Freeman through her seven years at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. She learns magic, meets new friends, learns how to defeat the most evil sorcerer of the age Lord Voldemort, and eventually find love along the way. Chapter 1: the acceptance letter. I sat in my room reading a book when there was a knock at the door. It was currently 5:30 in the afternoon. My parents had just got home from work 30 minutes ago. My mom was cooking dinner. I walked downstairs to answer the door. There was a woman in her mid-50s standing there. She had her black hair tied up in a bun and she wore a long green robe and spectacles. She introduced herself as  Professor McGonagall. My parents showed her into the living room. My mom went to make a cup of tea but she seemed to have Conjured it out of thin air. That’s when she explained everything about magic and how this world works. She handed me my letter and it read: dear Miss Freeman, we are pleased to inform you that you have been excepted at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Please find enclosed all necessary books and equipment. Term begin on September 1 and The Hogwarts express leave kings cross station at platform 9 3/4 at 11 AM. We Will await your owl no later than July 31. Yours sincerely, Minerva McGonagall, Deputy headmistress. I noticed two more pieces of paper in the envelope. One was a train ticket and the other was a list of school supplies which read: first year students will require: three sets of plain black work robes, one black cloak with silver fastenings, one pair of dragon high gloves, one black pointed wizards hat. One wand, one cauldron, one set of crystal files, one telescope. The standard book of spells grade 1, magical theory, a  beginners guide to transfiguration, 1000 magical herbs and fungi, magical drafts and potions, a  history of magic, the dark forces: a guide to self protection,  fantastic beasts and where to find them. Students may also bring an owl, cat, or toad. Students are reminded that they are not allowed to bring our own brooms. This all seems so exciting and I couldn’t wait to start. She told me that she would pick me up tomorrow at 8 AM and we will grab breakfast at the leaky cauldron then go shopping. The leaky cauldron was a pub that was the entrance to a shopping district called Diagon alley. She then told me about the dark Lord Voldemort and how magic chose me to be the one to defeat him after my babysitter sacrificed herself for me. I knew that every world had to have good and evil people but that didn’t take away from my excitement about finding a whole New World. I couldn’t wait for what the future would hold.
