Chapter 5

This chapter isn't the greatest, I had some writer's block, which probably affected this chapter, but I hope you all like it! Let's see if we can reach 100 views, by the end of the week! Thank you all!

"M-Maya... you need to come here, now..." He says weakly, "Come fast..." II hear his ragged breaths and wheezes.

"Dad, I need to go! Josh needs help, I'll come back later." I say, cracking open the door to mom's room, then shutting it, and running down the hall. I race down the stairs and through the lobby, out to the bike stand, where I hop on my bike. I pedal as fast as I can, and when I reach Josh's house I slam the bike against the sidewalk and run up the stairs to the porch. I stick my key in the keyhole, and shove the door open. "Josh!" I screech and then go silent.

"Maya!" I hear a masculine voice yell my name, and I run into the living room. No one is there. I sprint through each of the rooms, finally finishing in Josh's room. When I walk in I hear moans of pain.

"Maya?" Josh's voice. I look over in his bathroom and see a leg laying on the floor.

"Josh!" I yelp, and run into the bathroom. Josh is sprawled out on the floor, his head resting on the toilet seat. "Josh.." I say, kneeling next to him. He groans, and opens his eyes again, looking at me. "Josh, what happened? Why are you on the floor?" I ask, resting his head on my lap.

"I don't k-know... I felt d-dizzy, and I w-went to sit d-down and then I guess I blacked out.. I just remember waking up, an hour ago and not being able to get up. You were the first on my contact list, so I called you..." He says, and my heart drops an inch down. He would've called someone else if we hadn't talked earlier that day.

"O-okay. I'll call an ambulance.." I say, and he nods, closing his eyes again, his breathing rapid. I dial 911 into my phone, and talk to a dispatcher. "Hi, my- my friend just... well, he needs help." I say, then add, "The address is Number 5 Weehawken Street, NYC." I say, and the dispatcher says he'll send someone, and hangs up. "Josh, someone is coming to help now." I whisper into his ear, and he nods. "Josh, can you keep your eyes open? It's scaring me when they are closed..." I say, and one of his eyes flicker open.

"Like this?" He asks, and I nod, while smiling. "Maya, have I ever told you I liked you?" He asks, and I feel my cheeks heat up. I look him in the eyes and nod.

"Yes Josh. A long time ago..." I say, looking away, and not meeting his eyes. He gives a goofy smile. "Josh, you hit your head." I say, and he just stares at me with a goofy smile.

"You're so pretty..." He sighs, and giggles. He's never said that directly. The heat in my cheeks rises, and my cheeks feel as if they might burn off.

"Ok, I hear sirens." I say, lifting his head and softly putting it on the floor. I get up, and go to his front door, as the EMTs and paramedics push the door open. "Hi, this way." I say to them, and they pick up a cot, and follow me. I bring them to the bathroom where Josh is on the floor. They pick him up and lay him on a cot. As they lift him he groans, and says something that sounds like my name. I take a shaky breath and grab his hand, as the paramedics take him outside and load him into the ambulance. I sit down by him, and watch as a mask in applied to his face, and he is hooked up to a heart monitor.

"Maya?" He muttered and I squeeze his hand.

"I'm here." I say, and he opens his eyes to look at me. I smile at him and he smiles back, his eyes closing. I watch as he breaths, his chest heaving up and down, his mouth opening ever so slightly to breath through the mask.

"Miss, we're here. You're going to have to wake him. We want to make sure we don't loose him while we take him to the ER." A paramedic says and I nod, looking down at Josh.

"Hey, Josh? Joshy, it's time to wake up." he doesn't respond, and I roll me eyes. He's always been a deep sleeper. "Uncle Boing?" I say, and his breathing stops. One of his eyes open and look at me, sending a spark through me.

"M-Maya?" He mutters and I nod, squeezing his hand.

"The paramedics are going to move you into the ER, but they have to unload you. They wanted me to wake you. So they could be sure we didn't loose you." I say, and he nods, his other eye opening.

"One, two, three..." A paramedic shouts, and they heave him out of the ambulance. Josh groans and hardens his grip around my hand. I wince in pain, but squeeze back. The paramedics take him into a building, and roll him away from me. "We're going to have to take him to a private room. We'll notify you of any changes. Waiting room is to the right." A female paramedic says, and goes into a room, followed by a pretty female doctor.

An hour later the doctor comes through with a grim expression on her face. "Miss. hunter we have some bad news..." I look up, fear in my eyes. "Mr. Matthews is..."
