Chapter 1
The chosen one chapter 1: The acceptance letter and Diagon alley. My name is Catherine Johnson and I am 11 years old. It was a shock to receive my Hogwarts letter, but once I did I started realizing that the odd occurrences that would happen around me were magic. Professor McGonagall explained everything to me. She handed me the letter which read: dear Miss Freeman, we are pleased to inform you that you have been excepted at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Please find enclosed all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on September 1. The Hogwarts Express Leaves kings cross station at platform 9 3/4 at 11 AM. We await your owl no later than July 31. Yours sincerely, Minerva McGonagall, deputy Headmistress. I then arrived at Diagon alley which is where I am right now. We walked through the leaky cauldron and out the back door. Professor McGonagall tapped a series of bricks and we walked through the Archway. I looked around me in amazement. There were shops selling everything you could think of from broomsticks to robes to books to wands and cauldrons. Our first stop was Gringotts The wizard bank where I exchange my Muggle money for Wizarding currency. I was a little nervous due to the fact that there were goblins but I held myself well. We went down to The Muggleborn vault and I grabbed a bag of coins. We walked back out into the lobby and out the door back into the alley. We first went to get robes. I got both casual and formal robes. We then got my books which were: the standard book of spells grade 1, a beginners guide to transfiguration, magical theory, 1000 magical herbs and fungi, magical drafts and potions, a History of Magic, the dark forces: the guy to self protection, and fantastic beasts and where to find them. We then went to get my wand. I stood in the wand shop having my arm measured. Mr. Ollivander then showed me a few wants which did not work. He then came back with a wand that he said was made of alder and dragon heartstring. I waive the wand in red and gold Sparks shut out the end. That’s a Gryffindor if I ever saw one! Mr. olivanders said. We paid for the wand and exited the shop. We then went to buy my cat which was a cat named Aslan. All in all, going to Diagon alley was a great experience and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
