Mokes
Chapter 5
Well, this is possibly our last time together for this year. I may see you next year, though, so my possible parting gift to you is a lovely entry on Mokes. Mokes are very cute creatures who can be made into purses! I realize it's only the skin that's made into purses, but that still sounds very inhumane and not cruelty-free! Mokes are silver green and they can shrink! I'd love to be able to shrink, but then I'm afraid I'd probably get stepped on. Mokes eat live crickets, of which I seem to get a supply of every year. I even name them and let them live in my bedroom and set them free outside, but I think a Moke would do better with them.
I find Mokes to be interesting creatures because of their ability to shrink. If I weren't afraid I'd get stepped on, like I said, I'd love that power! I also find it quite interesting that they have a feeding schedule with several different options. It's like us going through a lunch line at work or school, as opposed to many animals that have a set diet with a set food option. There's also cannibalism, which is quite the issue but a fascinating topic to me. I've seen chimpanzees take part in cannibalism, as well as heard stories of people taking part in it, but I never knew Moke babies took part in it too.
When Professor Anne and Professor Cattercorn showed us the Moke, I was stunned at how cute they were. I fell in love with their silver green skin and their appearance right away. Seeing one made me want a Moke as a pet and I really wanted to pet the class Moke. They really are beautiful creatures and it's a shame that their skin is used to make purses and pouches. I realize it's just the skin, but the color of their skin is the most beautiful color I've ever seen, Yogi!
