Hermione met Ron on the way to Hogwarts for their first time searching for a toad that a boy named Neville had lost.  She then showed off to Ron by getting the 'Wingardium Leviosa' spell correct on her first try. She acted like a know-it-all and Ron dis-liked that. She over heard Ron saying 'know wonder she hadn't gotten herself any friends.' to Harry. Later, they became friends and the three of them (Harry, Hermione and Ron) defeated Voldemort and got the sorcerer's stone for Professor Dumbledor.
