Lesson Five: Flight of the First Year Study Guide
Chapter 6
Learning to Fly
Using your right hand, hover over the broomstick. Stand on the left side of the broom to mount it easier. Confidently, say up! Concentrate on it flying into your hand. Your right leg gets mounted first. If you grip the broom too tight, it will be quite difficult to steer or slow down. A loose grip will do the same. Kick off of the ground & hover a few feet above the ground. To touch the ground again, simply point the handle downwards a bit.
Directions
To fly straight, lean forward & focus on moving. To decrease speed or stop altogether, loosen your grip on the handle & focus less. Pushing down on your broom while doing this will result in a decrease in elevation. To turn in any direction, simply move your broom in that direction. To turn with speed, lean towards the broom while turning in your desired direction.
