Diary of a First-Year Hufflepuff
It’s me, Grace. I’m a first-year Hufflepuff who likes to write my day at Hogwarts. I hope you find my diary interesting and enjoyable and I hope that future generation first-years will also learn as they go, just like I did. Many of these entries are based on actual events happening in my life, but obviously I twist the stories a little to make them more magical!

It’s Getting Real
Chapter 5
Dear Diary,
it's only been a few weeks and I'm already starting classes. I think that my favorite class is Herbology, even though I only got 60% on an assignment. I guess that's okay. Luckily I can redo the assignment! I already redone the assignment, so now I'm just waiting on Professor Aspen to grade it. Oh right! The Herbology professor is professor Aspen. He is a nice teacher, gotta say. I'm also taking Charms. I thought Charms would be really fun and I know it is a major important class for my future as a witch, but there's just so much notetaking, I can't even keep up with everything. The other classes don't even require notetaking, although usually I do so I can study it more. But Charms - it's just too much! But Charms is a required class, and even if it was optional I'd probably take it just because I feel it's the most important education. For example: Herbology is nice, but not everyone is going to be a Herbologist. Potions are cool, but not everyone wants to become a medical professional. History of Magic is useful to know about everything from the past, but not everyone is going to be a historian. But Charms, if you are a witch or wizard, I believe you really need to know spells and how to cast them. Maybe that's why there is so much notetaking. But it just takes up so much time, sometimes I have to stay after class and keep notetaking the parts I remembered.
