Chapter 9
The light was only inches away from Harry before it shielded hit the death eaters, killing them all. But that’s not possible? Everyone knew that the killing curse was unblockable. The answer to their question was right Infront of them. McGonagall was standing in her beautiful signature green robes with her wand pointing at Harry. She was the one who shielded the curse. She had saved them all. “Potter, you foolish boy. Were you really going to sacrifice yourself? You could have done so many other things. Even apparition would have worked. Now I get why the sorting hat didn’t put you in Ravenclaw.” Everyone started laughing. No one could have looked at them and guessed that they were in a life-threatening situation a few minutes ago. McGonagall laid her eyes on the marauders. Tears were falling from her eyes, but she wiped them away before they met her cheeks. She was shaking and looking at everyone, her eyes asking if they really were real. Ron gave her a joyful nod and she sprinted to where the marauders were standing and hugged each and every one of them. “If you don’t mind me asking professor, how did you block the curse? I thought ‘Avada kedavra’ was unblockable?” Hermione asked feeling a bit guilty for interrupting the beautiful moment. “Ah Ms. Granger, always wanting to grasp onto any knowledge you could get. You really are the brightest witch of your age aren’t you. And to answer your question, I learnt it from Dumbledore before he... you know... don’t know where he learnt it.” The awkward silence was back until McGonagall spoke again. “Lily, James, Remus, Sirius, Peter as much as I love to see you all again you cannot stay. You must return. Letting you all stay here will cause havoc beyond anyone's imagination. And I will obviously have to wipe your memories. Letting you go back with knowledge of the future is a greater danger. Even the smallest changes in the past could trigger the end of someone's existence.” Her voice was breaking down just like Harry’s had earlier this day. Harry looked calm on the outside, but he was screaming on the inside. Dealing with all these losses were painful enough the first time. He can’t let them go again. He needs them.
