The Importance of Concentration - Lesson 5

Chapter 5

  • Concentration is not greatly needed in every spell

    • The Wand Lighting Charm does not need much concentration

    • The Locomotion Charm needs a good amount

    • You cannot skip concentration even if you can skip incantation or movement

    • Your mind must be clear - meditation is good practice

    • You must be solely focused on the spell when you cast it

  • Spell modifiers are added to the end of a spell to change something

  • The Sunlight Charm

    • Lumos Solem (LOO-mos so-LEM)

    • Counter-clockwise circle ending with wand pointing at the target

    • The spell will only last for five to six seconds at the most

  • The Dancing Lights Charm

    • Lumos Numerosa (LOO-mos Noom-air-O-sa)

    • Counter-clockwise circle followed by many fast repeats

    • You must concentrate on every single orb that is made

    • A First-Year should be able to make three to five at a time

    • Keeping them clustered makes it easy to move them
