Words and Their Power - Lesson 4
Chapter 4
Scripts can be in two forms
Symbols like those used in hieroglyphics and cuneiform
Alphabet like in English
The oldest alphabet is called the Phoenician Alphabet from 1050 B.C.E.
Had no vowels as you were supposed to add those in
Even though there are some differences we still use somewhat the same alphabet
Incantations are always one or two words long
Many have Latin origins
An example is Levioso, the incantation for the Hover Charm, which comes from the root levis which means “light of weight”
Mispronunciations can result in small or large results
The Fire Making Charm
Incendio (in-SEN-dee-oh)
Curved flick up and down
This charm will change as your magic progresses
One of the oldest spells
The Locomotion Charm
Locomotor (LOH-koh-moh-tor)
Full circle with an upward flick at the object and pointed wand in direction of movement
The object does not fly, instead, it hovers slightly off the ground and moves
You can say the object you want to move (Locomotor Trunk)
The charm does not work on living things
