I come out of the Gryffindor portrait hole holding a vile of the Befuddlement Draught and my book bag resting across my shoulder. Traci, Ace, and I run towards the library and sit at a table that is vacant. In the distance, the librarian guards a section that seems closed off from the rest of the room. “There's the restricted section. How do we get passed the librarian without being caught?” Traci looks at Ace and I in determination. “With this,” From my book bag, I take out a small vile and place it on the table in front of them. “Ace, remember when we had to brew the Befuddlement Draught in potions class? I think it's time we use it.” Ace props up an eyebrow and then a smirk comes across his face. “That sounds like a great idea.” Traci looks confused, so I explain. “The Befuddlement Draught is a potion that when drunk, the person gets confused as to what is happening around them. It's mainly meant for distractions. I believe I have enough of it to give us some time to find the book and run.” Ace chimes in, “But how are we going to do that?” This time, my eyebrow goes up. “Don't worry, I've got a plan. Ace, you take the vile and distract the librarian. When she's turned away, pour it into her drink on her desk. Wait for her to drink it and keep her distracted while Traci and I look for the book.”

“Simple enough.” Ace smirks, takes the vile, gets up from his seat, and walks towards the librarian. From a distance, I can hear what he's saying, though it's bits and pieces. “You look cute in that outfit...Why do you have such pretty eyes?...Would you ever want to go to Hogsmeade sometime?” He's flirting with her? When I said to distract her, this is not what I meant! My heart flutters in agony as I hear him. “I like you a lot Charlotte...No one comes close to being this lovely at this school except you.” Ugh! This is torture! Finally, he slips the vile into her drink and encourages her to drink the cup. “Charlotte, you seem dizzy. You must be thirsty. Take a drink for me?” He winks at her and she giggles as the cup goes in her hand. “Yes, she drank it!” Traci snaps me out of hearing him flirt with Charlotte. Within a few seconds, the librarian looks as if she's confused. “W-where am I?” Traci and I get up and sneak into the restricted section. As I sneak by them, I hear Ace flirt with her, clear as day. “We were discussing where we'd go if I were to pick you up for a date.” At that, I froze. Ace sees me in the archway into the restricted section and with his head, he motions for me to go. A stinging feeling creeps into me. It hurts to hear him flirt with another.

Traci and I walk into the restricted section and we can't see a thing. “Lumos!” Traci's wand instantly lights up. I take my wand out and say the incantation, “Lumos!” Nothing happens. Why didn't it work? Oh right, I don't have my magic anymore. I turn to Traci and I shrug my shoulders at her. “So much for that.” Traci and I start searching through the massive book shelves, with Traci's wand the only source of light. “Anastasia, are you okay? I mean, I saw your face when Ace was flirting with Charlotte. He's only pretending, but still. I know it's bothering you.” Traci is good at observing. Too good. I take a deep sigh and admit it. “Fine, yes it's bothering me. I told him to distract, as in dropping things or making things a little chaotic, not to distract by flirting!” Traci chuckles at me and hip bumps me. “You're jealous! I never knew you were the jealous type.” I roll my eyes and walk slightly in front of her, ignoring her comment. Maybe I am jealous, though just a little.

We search rows upon rows of book shelves, but none has the book we are looking for. Traci stops in her tracks and whispers, “I hear footsteps!” Traci and I duck behind a shelf, not making a sound. Who is it? “Anastasia? Traci?” It's Ace. What is he doing back here? We peak out and see him coming towards us. “We have limited time left. The potion is starting to wear off. I had to sneak past Charlotte before she notices what happened.” I walk to him and he instantly pulls me close to him. “Ugh! This is taking forever! Accio Enhancing Beauty Book!” Four books suddenly fly out of the shelves in the room and land on the floor in front of us. I turn to Traci and I cross my arms over my chest. “Why didn't I think of that before we searched half the room?” Collectively, we all bend down and pick up a book, Ace picking up two. “Guys, I think I found it!” The book in my hand slams down onto a table as I jog towards her to get a closer look. On the cover, it looks like it has been dunked in glitter. The spine has a crease in it, meaning someone has looked at this book before. In the glitter, there are words printed in sparkly black, almost as if it was twinkling:

“Hello? Who's there? I know someone is in here!” Charlotte's voice echos throughout the room. I take the book from Traci's hand and I shove it into my book bag. I whisper-yell at both Traci and Ace, “Light's out! Let's go!” Traci gasps at Charlotte's voice and I hear both of them silently saying, “Nox!” We somehow end up sneaking out of the Restricted Section without Charlotte noticing us. Traci, Ace, and I walk separately around the library a few times, pretending that we are at the library for homework purposes. We all show up together near the entrance and we exit the library quickly, not sticking around for long. I look at Traci and Ace and I ask, “Where do we go?” Ace tilts his head at Traci, motioning for her to follow us. He takes my hand, pulls me along with him, and starts jogging. “I know a classroom that is usually reserved for detention. I don't think it's being used tonight. Come on!” With the book in our possession, Ace leads us into a classroom I've never been to before.
