Chapter 9
(Jacob’s POV)
I woke up in a cold sweat, and I turned to my side. Sierra lays there, sleeping peacefully. I sighed, relieved and tightened my grip around her. “I’ll never let you go.” I whispered, knowing she was still asleep. I saw her smile slightly. I smiled softly. I took a breath, and slowly got up.
I tip-toed to the kitchen to make some breakfast for me and Sierra. Today, I was going to follow a cooking tutorial. I was going to make her cinnamon rolls, and chocolate pancakes. And of course, I can’t go low-blood sugar, so I’ll add in some bacon. Dang, that sounds good right about now. Today was the day. Her birthday.
(Sierra’s POV)
“Hey, would you come outside for a moment?” Jacob yelled from outside the canopy. I rushed out. “There you are love- wow you look beautiful.” I blushed. “Happy Birthday” he said as he handed me one final present. I opened it excitedly. “A blindfold?” I was confused. “Yes. put it on” he smiled and took my hand. I put the blindfold on and he guided me in all sorts of directions. About 20 minutes later I heard, “okay take your blindfold off.” and I did. I gasped.
I looked ahead of me and saw a dock all lit with candles. At the end of the dock stood Jacob. The sun was setting. I walked up to Jacob and took his hand. We sat down on the dock and dipped our feet in the warm ocean water. We sat watching the sunset when Jacob pulled me closer. I was looking at the beautiful sky when I heard something slip out of Jacob's mouth. “What?” He looked at me. “Sierra, the first time I met you, my heart melted. You were everything to me, and I can’t believe you are mine now after all this time. I don’t have the words to explain how much you mean to me, without crying. You are my world, and- I just- Sierra, will you make me the happiest man in the world?” my jaw dropped. “I- yes” I was finally able to say…….
“Yes I will!” I smiled. His face lit up and he pulled me in and kissed me. We sat there for a couple of minutes then I felt a push and then heard the splash of water. I gasped. Jacob had pushed me in the water. I grabbed his ankle and pulled him under. He came back up a couple seconds later laughing.
“Why did you do that?” he continued laughing. “You pushed me in” I laughed too. And I splashed him, only to get splashed back. We continued laughing and splashing each other for a while before he suddenly stopped. “Sierra,” he said seriously. “What” I splashed him again and continued laughing. Suddenly he grabbed my waist and pulled me so close to him, mouths inches apart. I stopped breathing. We gazed into each other's eyes for a moment before I pressed my lips onto his. The sun set so it was now dark. I ran my hands through his hair. He grabbed my neck gently and deepened the kiss with so much more passion.
After 15 seconds, it was over. “I love you so much Sierra,” I smiled. “I love you too Jacob” we sat there in the water holding each other.
