DADA-lesson 1, 02/01/2022, with professor Jericho Penrose

The "Dark Arts" is an umbrella term that covers anything that has the intent to harm, injure or even kill another person. The Dark Arts include many branches of magic such as potions and spells. the Dark Arts is that they can never be defeated, they can never be fully known. the Ministry has created five categories of dark magic: dark spells, dark potions, dark creatures, dark artifacts, and dark practices. A dark spell is any spell cast with the intent to harm others. This is also the general definition of the Dark Arts: any magic used with the intent to harm

Low-Level Spells: Tripping Jinx, Stinging Jinx, and Knockback Jinx are irritating spells and can be used as a distraction, but they won't cause any lasting damage. hexes are of a higher level than low level: they have effects that cause more damage to the target and are seen as major inconveniences that cause a moderate amount of suffering. Curse is the darkest and most dangerous classification of the Dark Arts - these spells are usually cast with the intent to seriously injure or potentially even kill the target. The use of these spells is often discouraged unless absolutely necessary. In the category of curses there is still another category: the unforgivable curses. If someone uses any of these 3 curses he will end up in Azkaban.

the spell of lighting the wand is a simple spell that, if performed correctly, illuminates the tip of the caster's wand. It's simple because it doesn't take a lot of concentration and not even a lot of willpower. The light emitted must be yellow. To cast the spell, you need to say Lumos, LOO-’mos', and move the wand in a circle counterclockwise. This spell is used to illuminate dark places but with certain dark creatures they can also be repelled. To turn off the light there is another very simple spell, Nox, pronounced NOCK-ss, and to do it just tap with the wand and you don't need any willpower and concentration. Pronunciation is very important with any spell, in fact, if pronounced incorrectly, the spell will either not happen or it can cause disastrous damage
