The Eternal Story of Xavier and Mia

Chapter 3

In the Indian Gujarati village called Rahasyagarh, infamous for its uninhibited manufacture and sale of arms and ammunition, two clans—Ranitva and Mehekya—had been at odds with each other for the past 500 years. A violent altercation between the two occured after Arvind, a Mehekya, fired at the son of Ravi, a Ranitva chieftain. Arvind was almost killed by Ravi, but Xavier, Ravi's younger brother, intervened and saved Arvind. All the Ranitva elders were irked by Xavier being a vagabond who dealed in stolen cars, with his mindset of making a truce with the other clan.

During the festival of Holi, Xavier boldly entered the house of the Mehekya heads and flirted with Mia. Meanwhile, her mother, Yohani Maa, the chieftain of the Mehekyas, was busy arranging a match for her daughter with a simple-minded NRI. Mia's elder brother, Kelern, was angered by Xavier's entry into the house and bribed the local police to raid Xavier's house. Xavier, however, managed to convince the policemen to leave in exchange for a set of his blue films. Xavier and Mia eventually developed romantic feelings for each other and planned to elope, but Kelern accidentally killed Ravi, Xavier's brother, and was, in turn, killed by Xavier.

To escape the suffering, Xavier and Mia eloped and got married, but just as they are about to consummate their marriage, Xavier's friends traced them and betrayed him by inebriating him and informing Mia's family of their location.

Wait a minute, wait a minute, did you expect them to have a happy ending just like that? No honeys, no story has a happy ending so fast; at least, this one doesn't.

The next morning, Mia was forcibly taken back home by Arvind, her cousin, while Xavier was being hailed as a hero by the Ranitvas for spoiling Mia's reputation.* He was rewarded by being made the new chieftain of the Ranitvas.

NOTE→Mia's reputation had been spoiled because she had been already married to Xavier but again, she was taken away by her parents, so, their marriage was quite nullified.

Meanwhile, Yohani Maa arranged the engagement of Mia and the NRI, much to the chagrin of the pair. Mia refused, citing that her finger was already occupied by the ring from her marriage to Xavier. In her anger, Yohani Maa choped off Mia's finger. Upon learning of this, Xavier did the same to his own finger and visited Mia while she was in her dreamland. Mia still retained faith in Xavier and sent Raasmani, the widow of Kelern, to give Xavier an ultimatum to take her away. Raasmani was assaulted by Xavier's friends, and when Yohani Maa learnt of this, she sent Arvind and other men to assault Shaswati, Ravi's widow, who managed to evade them.

In response to the attempt on Shaswati, Xavier stormed into Mia's house and incapacitated the guards single-handedly. He then requested Yohani Maa to consider negotiation for peace, and she invited him to celebrate Navratri with the Mehekyas, with the intention of having him killed. However, at the event, Arvind secretly shooted and seriously injured Yohani Maa to place the blame on the Ranitva. Mia is made the chieftain of the Mehekyas but got busy attending to her mother. She bitterly carried out a negotiation with Xavier, equally dividing the travel routes and trades, with the condition that the Mehekyas and Ranitvas would not interact with each other ever again.

Arvind, who could not tolerate this development, deceived Mia into blindly signing a document that ordered unrestrained killings of the Ranitvas. During Dusshera, as the Ramleela parade was about to end, many of the Ranitvas were killed, and the village was on the brink of war, which Xavier sensed. Xavier and Mia decided that they must be each other's soulmates and shot one another dead, all the while oblivious to the fact that Yohani Maa had undergone a change of heart and had killed Arvind, ordering that peace be made with the other clan. The two clans came together to cremate the bodies of the lovers.

Thus, ends the eternal love story of Xavier and Mia whose sacrifices are even celebrated today(well well, people always need an excuse to be celebrating something, don't they?).
