Chapter 1
We all look at the world differently. Separate ideas and different opinions. However, even if we are different there is on thing that makes us feel not weird or like outcasts but like a proud, unique individual. That is friendship.
Many people will have a best friend. Someone they share everything with. Someone who is the glue that forms a platform, a solid ground for you to stand on. When that glue is taken away we feel lost. Like we are falling. And no one understands. That is what this is about.
People lose loved ones everyday and even when we are supported we feel deep down inside that it is still wrong. That they should be there for us. That they should be there to keep us sane or to have a good time. When that is taken for a person. It’s like taking their soul.
The laughter dies and a silence surrounds you like the devil. We don’t do anything it though. We let it take over. Our emotions are strong and that isn’t always bad. Like a famous writer once said, ‘crying isn’t a sign of weakness, ever since birth it’s been a sign that you are alive.’
Next time that devilish silence comes to haunt you say no. If many people had done that before they would be living a happier life. No one controls an individual. We make our own choices and mistakes and we are all beautiful. Live up to who you are. You were born and original so please just don’t die a copy. No one is normal and never will be.
The glue we use to build our solid ground will have to leave at some point in time and there is nothing we can do about that. We can’t change the natural course of things cause we are humanity not superheroes. We try desperately to find another glue but it doesn’t work and we keep falling and falling and falling until we reach rock bottom. That is when the humans soul is departed from the unwilling victim. Then we become lost.
Imagine a thing. Invisible to us humans yet still there. Something that watches over us and waits until we lose our solid ground. Imagine that it feeds on our misery and loss. Imagine that it feeds on the broken bits of our solid ground. As if it what’s for despair to fill the air around you making it bigger and bigger. But when a beam of light shines through the darkness and you stand up. That us when the thing slowly shrinks giving you littles pieces of your solid ground back. Maybe that creature exists. Something that hovers over its own person and swallows up their negative emotions so that the only ones left are the ones we keep hidden in the back of our minds, locked away from all sorts of civilization.
A music box. It sits at the back of your mind behind a locked door, waiting to be unleashed to the world. Inside it holds the worst things we could possible imagine. It’s filled with grief trauma, feelings or things we need to keep hidden and finally guilt. Guilt is a hunter. It tracks you down and makes you feel the pain and blame yourself even if you had nothing to do with the situation. Maybe that’s why we feel guilty if we have done nothing wrong to deserve the feeling of guilt. Because we did nothing.
When they leave it hurts. And the only cure to fight the disease we call despair is to forget them yet we refuse. We feel their pain and we feel our own pain too. I once had a dream. I was camping and everything seemed fine. Then out of nowhere my best friend tried to kill me. It was so scary and in my dream I ran. I ran to an old, abandoned school and hid on one of the toilets with my two other friends. My best friend walked in and tried beating down the toilet doors. She soon succeeded and took the two I was hiding with. After a while, she found me. I ran. I ran for what seemed like my life. But in the end it wasn’t her that got me. In the end it was lighting.
Lighting. I believe this was a message. I was running. Running from my problems. My best friend was metaphorically my problems. I ran and ran until it wasn’t her that got me in the end. I believe that the lighting was metaphorically my mental health. That’s what really gets us all on the end.
No one understands the pain. The pain of the world turning its back on you. The pain of being invisible, walked through. The pain of being seen as less than human. Well, if people see you this way, own it. You’re like a snake. You won’t bite if people leave you alone but if they stand on your tail, you bite them back! Be who you are. The person who is good at school but inside and out is a traumatised, messed up snake. And when someone stands on your tail... bite back. Hard.
Never let anyone push you around! People need to learn respect. Stand up for yourself. You’re an outsider, not a popular person. Don’t be sad. Own it! No one should ever feel like they can push you or your friends around. Don’t bother with friends you don’t trust. Play hard to get and bite back. You’re a snake, not a dog. You don’t bark. You bite.
