Chapter 2
EPISODE SYNOPSIS: Elsa begins hearing voices, and struggles to get them out. Desperate to get rid of the voice, Elsa decides to go after the Crystal; Anna worries that something evil is overtaking Elsa, and tries pushing Kristoff away in order to cope
Elsa was still looking back into the distance, not noticing her sister's worried stare. The brisk wind nipped at Anna's nose and fingers, and she wrapped herself up in her cloak, blinking a few times. Her sister seemed completely out of it. Anna began to think to herself, what had Elsa saw out there? Why was she that deep in the forest?
Anna decided her sister needed some cheering up. "Elsa?"
Elsa looked up at her sister blankly. "Hmm?"
"You ok?" She asked with a gentle voice.
"Umm....yes...I'm fine."
Suddenly, Olaf piped up. "JUST WAIT TILL YOU GET TO THE CASTLE!"
Elsa raised an eyebrow. "Wait, what? Anna...."
Anna smiled. "I told you I didn't have just one surprise planned. This is me you're talking about, Elsa."
Kristoff leaned and whispered in Anna's ear. "You think Elsa's gonna like this? She doesn't seem to be in the mood for surprises."
Anna thought for a moment. Her sister did seem somewhat out of it. Anna decided to ignore Elsa's odd demeanor. It wasn't like this was the first time Elsa had been like this, although it never had been so abrupt. The princess sighed as they approached the kingdom of Arendelle. The sun had now rose and the sky was a vivid orange and pink. Anna gave a soft smile at the gorgeous hue, and she turned to Elsa once more.
Kristoff stopped the sleigh and hopped down. Sven snorted as Olaf got off the sleighas the ice deliverer turned to Anna and helped her down, then extended his hand towards Elsa. Elsa was still looking off into the distance and didn't notice Kristoff's hand.
Kristoff raised an eyebrow. "Elsa? Ummm....Elsa?"
Elsa seemed to snap out of it and turned to Kristoff. "Huh? Oh...sure, the red one works."
Anna gave her sister a confused look. "Kristoff was just trying to help you out the sleigh...."
Elsa blinked a moment and smiled sheepishly. "Oh.....sorry." She grabbed Kristoff's hand and he helped her down.
Anna turned to Kristoff and Olaf. "You guys can go in and make sure everyone's ready."
Kristoff nodded and they walked inside the castle.
Anna turned to Elsa who was frowning, her head held down in embarrassment. Anna took her sisters hands in hers. "Elsa...are you ok? Like actually ok?"
Elsa looked up at Anna, who had a concerned expression on her face. Saints, she hated that look. "I'm fine, Anna. Really, I am." She straightened herself up and put on a smile.
Anna gave her sister a soft smile. "As long as you're ok. Now, let's go inside." Anna squealed in excitement as she opened the castle doors and Elsa walked in.
"SURPRISE!!!!"

ELSA'S POV
Elsa jumped back as all her servants, from her cooks to her advisors, jumped up and yelled out, "Surprise!"
Suddenly, ice shot from Elsa's hands and created a thin sheet of ice on the castle floor. Everyone gasped, some struggling to keep their balance on the ice, and Anna covered her mouth with her hands. It wasn't that Anna was afraid of her sister's powers, Elsa knew she wasn't, but the fact that ice came from Elsa's hand and she didn't mean to do it was what scared her.
It had already been two years since Elsa had caused the Great Frost, and ever since then, Elsa had been working hard to control her powers. There hadn't been any problems with the control of her powers until...now.
Elsa gasped as she stared at the iced floor, turning turning to her sister who still had her hand over her mouth. "Anna...."
"It's fine. Nothing serious, right?" Anna asked expectantly, though Elsa hated how her siblings voice shook.
Elsa nodded. "I'm sorry, I just...I got scared is all."
Anna took a deep breath and grabbed her sisters cold hand. "If your fine, then can I show you the real surprise?"
Elsa smiled softly as Anna lead her to the dining hall. Anna let out a breath before she put on a smile and opened the golden doors to the dining hall. Elsa's weak smile shifted to a real one as she looked before her.
There were rows and rows of all kinds of delicious foods that were specially prepared for Elsa. Kristoff along with Lady Eris and other royal advisors were already seated at the large dining table. But it wasn't the many foods that surprised Elsa. It was the chocolate. Rows and rows of chocolate delights and, of course, Lady Eris' famous Devil's Cake.
Elsa stared in awe at the wonderful chocolate delights. "Anna, I don't know how I could ever repay you."
"You can pay me back by not letting this good chocolate to go to waste." Anna giggled, a servant pulling out seats for them.
Elsa laughed as she sat down at the table looking at all of the amazing dishes. Her smile faded as she heard a voice.
Her mother's voice. No. No, it wasn't her mother's voice. Though the same tone, the voice she heard was cold and dark and evil.
Elsa....the Crystal. You have to go get it. Do it for us, Elsa...The Crystal is in you....it shall set you free.
Elsa.....
...Elsa.....
"ELSA!"
Elsa turned her head to find every advisor staring at her. She blushed in embarrassment, an emotion that the Queen rarely felt.. "I...umm...Let's eat?"
Anna looked concerned. Elsa could tell her sister knew something was up, and she also had to keep herself under control.
Elsa cleared her throat and the servants quickly played the food, though Elsa could feel Anna and Kristoff staring at her. She dug her fork into the kumla first, a dish that the servants prepared all the time at her mother's request. It was a famous Norwegian dish.
Kumla was a big, hearty round potato dumpling with a piece of bacon inside simmered slowly in a rich ham broth. Lady Eris would always add extra butter and top it with sour cream. It wasn't kumla without sour cream.
Elsa took a bite of the kumla. The bacon and spices in the potato filled her mouth. She let out a hum in delight. She hadn't had kumla in so long, she had forgotten what it tasted like.
Anna noticed her sister seemed to be enjoying her food. "Do you like it?"
"Like it?" Elsa smiled as she took another bite, "Anna, I love it!" Perhaps if so many people weren't around she wouldn't have eaten so elegantly....
Elsa then noticed the delicious looking sandefjordsmor on some fish. Sandefjordsmor was her favorite thing when she was younger. Well, next to chocolate and Lady Eris' Devil's Cake. It was basically a butter sauce that was normally served on top of fillet fish with a side of sliced cucumber and cantaloupe squares.
Elsa took a bite and the juicy butter sauce dripped down her mouth. She quickly wiped her mouth with her napkin and she could hear Anna saying, "This is sooo good." Elsa then noticed another dish she enjoyed. Skolebrod. Skolebrod was a sweet bun filled with sweet pastry cream or sugary jam, and it was topped with powdered sugar.
"You guys, this is too much. All of these dishes are...they're wonderful!" Elsa gave her sister a warm smile.
Kristoff leaned over. "You should really be thanking Anna. It was all her idea."
Elsa turned to her sister and gave a warm smile. "Anna...."
Anna bit her lip. "Aww, don't go thanking me. I just....I just wanted it to be like old times. All of these dishes reminded me of Mama. She loved them all, remember?" It had taken some time to regain her memories of the time sje and Elsa spent together, all the ones dealing with Elsa's powers, anyway, but she could never forget the time spent with their parents.
Elsa's smile faded again. She heard her mothers voice.
Old times.....you remember Elsa? The Crystal, Elsa.....go and get it.....do for the old times Elsa....DO IT....
"Elsa?" Anna looked at her sister with worry.
Elsa turned to her sister. Her once frost blue eyes were cold and heartless now,, and the Queen gripped tightly to her fork.
Anna narrowed her eyes. "Elsa, are....are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Anna." Elsa could feel her anger boiling. Some other part of her was coming out. She tried to concentrate, to say no and go back to normal, but the force was too strong.
Kristoff's eyes widened. "Elsa....?"
"I SAID I'M FINE!!" With that, ice shot out from Elsa's hand and spread acroos the entire table. The thick frost covered even the food.
The advisors gasped, Kristoof stared, and Anna jumped up from the table staring at Elsa with hurt eyes.
Elsa's eyes went back to the calm blue they once were, and she noticed the damage she'd caused. "No....no...."
It had been years since something like this happened. Elsa has long ago learned to gain control of her powers. This couldn't be happening again. Not again.
Anna gasped. "Elsa....Elsa, what...what did you...."
Not again. I could've hurt Anna. Not again. Elsa stared in horror and took a step back. She turned around and darted for the door. Not again. No, not again.
Anna quickly ran after her sister. "Elsa! Elsa, please! Don't shut us out again! Don't shut me out again. Please!"
Tears formed in Elsa's eyes. This couldn't be happening again. She had gotten over this. She had gained control long ago. Why was this happening? Anna grabbed Elsa's arm and stared into her eyes.
"Elsa....what happened to you?" Anna's eyes began to water.
Elsa's eyes turned heartless again, and she gave a scowl. Her voice seemed demonic. "This is me."
Anna quickly let go of her sister's hand and backed away. Elsa came back to normal and noticed the fear in Anna's eyes, covering her mouth with her hands and tears poured down her face.."I'm so sorry..."
She turned and ran out the door, a trail of ice following her. Anna crumbled to the ground, sobbing her heart out. Elsa ran sown the hallway. She couldn't get the voice out her head.
The Crystal, Elsa...get the Crystal...
"No! No! L-let go of me! Get out of my head!" Elsa ran to her room and slammed the door, slumping to the ground. She heard someone knocking on the door.
"Elsa?" Anna's voice cracked as she spoke. "Elsa....Elsa please...don't do this..If something is wrong you know I can help."
More tears poured down her cheeks. "Anna, I need to be alone right now.....p-p-please....I..."
"Forget it. It's fine." Anna spoke through sobs and her voice was sharp and tense.
Elsa sobbed in her arms as she heard Anna sniffle and quickly run off. She knew she had to find out what was doing this to her, what was making her this way. It was that Crystal, that glowing object in the forest behind that invisible barrier.
Get the Crystal.....you need it.....
Elsa knew what she had to do.

ANNA'S POV
Anna ran to her room, tears pouring down her cheeks. As she ran, she tripped on the hem of her dress and fell on the floor, her lavender colored skirts trailing gracefully even as she fell. She didn't even try to get up, and instead just sat there, crouched on the ground, crying her heart out. This couldn't be happening again. Her sister couldn't be shutting her out. Anna screamed out in anger and pain.
"Why?" Anna chocked on sobs. "Elsa....why?" She turned around as she heard the dining room doors open abruptly. Kristoff, along with Dagnor, one of the royal advisors came running down the hall.
Kristoff knelt down and touched Anna's shoulder. "Anna, are you-"
"Please, please don'task if I'm fine, because I'm not!" Anna felt more tears forming and she stood up and ran to her room. Kristoff followed her, but Anna quickly slammed the door behind her and locked it. She could hear Kristoff and Dagnor's muffled voices behind the door, but she wouldn't dare let them in.
She suddenly felt terrible. She was so angry about Elsa shutting her out, but now she was doing the same to her lover. Anna always seeked being around people when she was upset or sad, but not this time. Now, now she just needed space.
Anna sniffled and walked to her bed slowly. As she grabbed onto her headboard and leaned on it, her eyes beginning to water again. She sobbed and fell on her bed.
As she fell, she saw a small corner of a piece of paper sticking out one of the drawers. Anna sniffled and pulled out the piece of paper, noticing that it was folded neatly into fours. She stiffled a sob, her frown replaced by a weak smile as she unfolded the paper.
Anna remembered the exact day she drew this. This was how things used to be.
"How things used to be...." She said aloud. Suddenly, Anna felt something overtake her. It wasn't sadness, or pain, but anger. She was angry. Angry that after all these years, she was back here again. Anna screamed and balled up the paper, throwing it across the room. This wasn't like Elsa. Anna knew something was wrong. Suddenly, Anna got cold.
Extremely cold.
The breeze sent chills down Anna's spine. Not just because she was cold, but because it reminded her when she was frozen. Only an ice statue, watching her sister cry at her feet. The terrible feeling of darkness and ice came over her again. She'd had nightmares about a get times, though she didn't tell Elsa about it much, not wanting her sister to feel bad.
Fall had only just ended, so Anna knew it the breeze she felt could only be one thing.
Elsa.
