Chapter 2
1 p.m. on a Thursday. Me, Hermione, Ron, Harry, and Cedric sit eagerly exiting for our professor to start. Madame Trelawney is quite a strange Professor, but it's already October 13th, so might as well reason with her. As I sit day-dreaming about what kind of smells my soulmate's personality would be, Hermione is too busy by blabbing away about all her thoughts. To those that are listening, of course.

"I ended up getting a straight A+ for that cantation anyway- but who cares? It's not like I would ever brag about my grades- isn't that right, Ron?" Hermione nudged him. "Mhmm." Ron looked past a wall, as I tried to see what he was seeing. His hand was holding hepis head up in boredom. Harry, noticing Hermione's frustration, tried to help. "Uhm- what he means Hermione, is that he totally agrees.. with- every word you say." Harry said with his approval. "Exactly! So anyway, I went to find my homework piece for Ancient Studies, and Headless Nick decided it would be a good time too-"
"Y'know, when I was a young one like you all, I was never the blabbering kind." Madame Trelawney remarked, waving her hand as if making an encantation with a wand. Hermione whisper-gasped in shock. As if saying, Can you believe what that woman said about me? I mean yes, that was a strict way of telling her to mind her talking, but than again- Hermione does have her way of spilling out too many words at some times. Cedric was the only one how failed to keep his laughs in. I elbowed him to try to make him stop.
"Children, Children! Today is a very exciting day in your Hogarts learning. Today, we will be doing a teqnique using plant soil in teacups. But not only will I be doing that, but you will find out your soulmates personality through smells." She smiled. "But beware, it may not be what you think it'll be- or, in fact, who." She took four teacups and brought them to one table. "What can you sense?" She brought it to the only girl of the table. "Um.." she hesitated. "..wet clay...dirt.. and, wheat?" Madame Trelawney squinted her eyes in confusion. Leaving the girl to her own thoughts, she passed it to the other two boys. They looked liked they could be in their 2nd year still.
"Wheat? What's a personality gif to do with Wheat?" Ron whispered as he bent down to the table. "Not sure- but whoever it is, he could be someone from here." Harry remarked as the last boy called his smell. ""Mine could probably do something with-" "enchanted forest mud?" I cut Cedric off. Hermione chuckled. "You're always in detention Cedric." "Or just simply behind."
Madame Trelawney almost scared the magic out of me as she popped out of nowhere. "I hope you all are listening, Cedric." She said. "Wha- but it wasn't me-!" "Sh!" she shushes him silent. Hermione and i hid our laugh as we made eye-contact. "Now. Who is too go first?" Before the Professor could catch a breath, Hermione shot her hand up in the air with a smile. Professor Trelawney passed the tea-cup her way, as Hermione took it off her hand eagerly. Hermione lifted the cup to her nose. "I smell.. oak wood.. fruit?.. yes, fruit.. and.. chestnut-!" She finished off, handing it to Ron. "And remeber, my students. Those who cannot smell a scent, are destined to have not one soulmate." She raised her hand in the direction to the table on our left. Some boy was staring blankly towards the wall. "You can take the kid for an example!" She said weirdly excitingly, turning back towards Ron. He sat wide-eyed with panic. Harry, in the meantime, was lost in thought. It's been strange recently- Harry isn't as responsive as before.
"Now. Put it up to your nose." Professor Trelawney instructed waving her arms up. "Alright.." Ron put it up. "Erm.. I smell.. tea. Herbal Tea, i think.. books.. and.. Cat Fur?" Ron scrunched his nose to the irritating smell. Harry snapped back to reality. "You're so immature, Ron. "And as for y-" "uhm- is it okay if I come back late-? Madame Trelawney?" Harry shot his head up. "I suppose if you must-" Harry gathered all his belongings and sped-walk through the doors. What was up with him?
"Miss Whitlock." She said with a tea-cup out in both hands. "Care to try?" I glanced at Ron's confused face, and back to Hermione's. Cedric nudged my arm as a sign to just get it over with. Actually, deep down, I was almost even eager to get my turn. "Yes, Professor." I took the glass tea-cup, admiring the dark blue rim designs. Taking it to my nose, a sudden thought bounced t o my head. "What if I had no soulmate? I knew that couldn't happen to me, though. Could it? She waved her hands to make me try, as if she was putting an incantation over my head. "I breathed in the first smell of the stranger's personality. "Okay, uhm... I smell.. coffee...pumpkin.. and, rain water?" I placed the team-cup down as my nose starts to forget the smell. "Very well." She eyes me as she passes the cup to Cedric. Who of course, did his test as easy as ever.
"Um, I smell cold air.. yeah, like winter air.. caramel.. and.. forest leaves-!" He said vheerfully. I smiled. Professor Trelawney grinned at him.
"You may think your soulmate is far.. but they're closer than you think."
