The Boy In The Shop (Not By The Book Sorry)

Chapter 1

Measuring tapes were zipping up and down me in an annoying fashion, could they actually be taking measurements or were they just flopping around being useless like most of society? This is what i ponder as Madam Malkin finds the robes for my first year at Hogwarts. My father says the school is nothing but rubbish, but I'm exited despite his mockery of it. Yes it is true that i've been around magic all my life, but it has mostly been a nasty magic. A magic that makes my stomach hurt every time is is preformed. I told my mom this once, she frowned and there was something in her eyes that looked a bit like fear.

"Not all magic is bad my darling Draco." She smiled and pulled out her wand, after looking around the room for my father. She muttered a few words and the room was suddenly filled with bright green tulips. The air was fresh and it seemed like the sun shone just a little brighter. Then we both heard footsteps down the hallway. My mom looked scared, but pulled a smile up for my sake. A few more words under her breath and suddenly the green tulips were gone, the sun returned to it's previous dull shade and that was the end of it. We never spoke of it, but that day gave me hope. That hope is what is feeding my excitement for my first year at school i think, a wish for something safer and happier.

The shop's bell suddenly rings loud, breaking my memory filled daze. I peer around the curtain and see a boy who looks about my own age, with ruffly unruly black hair. He's just looking around the shop like he has never seen something so wonderful. Father would have rolled his eyes at the boy's wonder, but i think it is a very interesting thing. The boy turns round and i catch sight of his eyes, they are a bright green that remind me, once more, of the tulips. I smile despite myself, but quickly let the smile fall. If father saw me smiling at nothing he'd think me crazy.

"Be with you in a minute dear!" Madam Malkin said to the boy, who had been awkwardly standing there for a few minutes now. "As for you Mr. Malfoy, your robes are being fitted right now in the back, I'll fetch them and you can be on your way." She scuttled off to the back and left me standing in the fitting area.
"Hello there. Name's Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." I smile at the boy, but not a real smile just the fake one father told me to give to strangers. He doesn't react to my name. "Who are you then?" I ask.

"My name is Harry. Pleased to meet you." Madam Malkin leads the boy to the fitting area right next to mine then hurries off the the back of the shop once more.

"So, are your parents our sort?" I ask innocently. Father always says that blood is important.

The boy looks offended for whatever reason and replies with "Yeah, i suppose they were."

"Hogwarts with you? I'll be a  slytherin myself. My whole family has been, i don't reckon I'll have any choice. What about you? What house do you think you'll end up in?"

The boy looks slightly confused, his wonderful green eyes are filled with questions, and I am absolutely positive that i would like nothing more than to answer all his questions. No matter how silly they ended up being. Madam Malkin comes back at that moment, however, and hands me a bag with my robes in it, shoeing me off, as my father had already payed.

"Right, well I'll see you at school." I wave at the boy, at Harry, as I walk out of the shop and into the crowded street. I do glance back one more time at him though, I have too, and I look into his perfect green eyes. My mother's words come back to me now, "not all magic is bad." I now fully believe her. No one with such lovley eyes could be bad...right?
