Review #1: Eventown
Chapter 1
Eventown. By Corey Ann Haydu.
Eventown is unlike many books I've read. It's sad, and happy, and I guess bittersweet would be the word for it. Usually I like more fun and light-hearted books, but this one for some reason really hit me hard. I could not stop reading it! Any free time I had, I would read it. I finished it in a week or less and that say's something because it is a pretty good-sized book. In Eventown, there is some secret that it won't tell you. I wanted to know SO badly, and that's a big reason I read it so much. It's one of those books you just want to yell at one of the characters because your so mad at what their doing. But I think that is what makes it special. Being able to have connection to a book. I really can't express how good this book was. I LOVED LOVED LOVED it! I would 100% read it again.
(I'm doing the summary next so I will try to be discreet with what I say so I don't spoil it for those who want to read this book)
Summary:
In Eventown, an 11-year-old set of twins (Elodee and Naomi) and their parents leave behind a place of the past. Something happened there, but it is no longer talked about between the family despite Elodee's wishes. They head of to Eventown, the most perfect place in the world. It never storms in Eventown. In Eventown, the air smells of blueberries. In Eventown, all houses are the same...even. At first, everyone loves it, especially Naomi. Naomi always wants to fit in, but Elodee wants to stand out, she doesn't care what others think. Elodee and Naomi start becoming more and more different, and Elodee hates it. Instead of being proud of her sister, Naomi is ashamed.
Elodee and her families' memories of Before, begin to fade, and Elodee needs to do something. With the help of her new best friend, will she succeed in releasing the memories to all of Eventown? I guess you'll just have to read it to find out.
SERIOUSLY THOUGH PLEASE READ IT I RECOMEND IT A MILLION TIMES.
I hope you guys have gotten this far in the review and go read the book! This was so fun for me to make. I can't wait to review many more books. I'm reading 3 at the moment, so be prepared for more to come! So glad that Eventown was my first review!
