First Year HOM-101 Notes (WIP)
This book showcases notes from me as a first year Hufflepuff studying History of Magic. This book will be regularly updated following my study of each lesson. Please note that these notes are not written by a professional in HOM, and they should not be used as a substitute for your own notes or essays, but merely as a guide to good practice. Also, do take in mind that not every note is written in insane detail, and not all notes will cover the entire contents of each lesson.

Lesson 1: Importance of Magical History
Chapter 1
“History is important to us because we are living it, because we are in it, and because we are going to make it. It is happening at every second, minute, and moment in time. Consider a timeline; there is not one moment in time where we stand still for two seconds". This shows that magical history does not have to be about things of the past, but that it is rather one of the most progressive subjects available to study.
“Without history we cannot possibly hope to survive. If we as a wizarding society didn’t study history, we wouldn’t know that there was a Statute set forth to separate us from Muggles. We wouldn’t know that those underage cannot use magic outside of school. There would be laws broken everyday and wars breaking out every second, because we just wouldn’t know." This outlines the sheer importance of magical history, and the ways in which it guards us from people that would not understand our purpose. It also outlines how it protects societies other than our own.
“There would be laws broken everyday and wars breaking out all the time, because we didn’t know". This quote shows that without magical history, ours, and others worlds would descend into indescribable chaos.
