Memories

Chapter 1

Memories are priceless. They are not replaceable, so if they are to be lost, it's lost forever.

Memories are what help people become who they are, and influence them in their life choices.

Memories find their way into dreams, and change the perception of what is around you.

When Rain was found, she had no memories. Didn't know who or what she was. She was gullible because they had no known experience in the outside world. Worst of all, Rain had no dreams. The night she was found, she didn't have any dreams, just a void of darkness hovering over her.

The Wooddalls had found her while going on a walk, on a  rainy day in the forest. That day Milo and his son Salem had been walking through the forest, waiting for a deer to cross their path. Suddenly, the rain came down hard and they ran for shelter. As he ran past a large lake, Salem saw the top of a head floating in the water.

He dove in before his father could stop him, paddling quickly through the cold water. Once he got to the body, he wrapped his arm around their waist, and swam back to land. The rain was coming down harder than ever, and they both sprinted home, carrying the body along.

"MILO WHAT HAPPENED?", screamed his wife as they arrived home. "We found them floating in a lake Moria, what were we supposed to do? Leave them there??" Moria rushed the body into bed, while Milo and Salem changed out of their wet clothes.

"Dad?" Salem asked while drying his brown hair.

"Yes?"

" Do you think they're alive?"

"There's a possibility. We don't know how long they were underwater. I'm sure that if they are though, your mother will nurse them back to health."

" Yeah, but where would they go? It's not like they lived in the lake."

" I suppose that they could stay here for a while, but we'll have to discuss it."

There was a soft knock on the door of the living room before a little girl with the same brown hair and eyes as her brother quietly walked in. "Asha what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be asleep by now?" Her father asked softly, as she climbed into his lap.

" Rain woke me up." Asha said sleepy. He chuckled and kissed her on the forehead. "Yes, the rain is coming down much harder than before. It's normal for it to rain so much in spring. Try to fall asleep though, tomorrow is a big day." Asha laughed, "Not from that Rain silly. Rain's sleeping in the bed next to me, I think she was crying. I went to mommy's room to find her, but she was also asleep."

"Rain's a nice name. Are you sure that's her name though?" Salem asked. " When mommy asked, she just whispered rain. So I guess her name is Rain now."

Meanwhile upstairs, Rain was tossing and turning in her sleep. There was a shadow in the dark void, coming closer and closer. Rain tried to scream but nothing would come out, and that sound of thousands of footsteps patterned in her brain. She could see nothing, but hear everything 10 times louder than in a normal dream.

She could hear the kind woman from before lightly snoring in the room next door. Rain could hear the swishing of a nightgown from down stairs. She could hear the rain on the roof. "Rain" she whispered to herself. She kept reminding herself it was just rain. Not the sound of people's thundering footsteps.Trying to tune it out, she listened in on the conversation downstairs.

" I hope Rain is alright, " Salem sighed, " She seemed very cold when I took her out of the lake."

"She's fine, just a fever." Asha yawned.

" Salem, could you carry Asha back to bed? She seems to be getting very tired. Besides, you can check on Rain, since you seem so invested in her. " His father smiled.

Salem laughed, "Don't worry, I'm just worried about her that's all. Come on Asha, time for bed."

As they entered the darkly lit room, Salem could see Rain sleeping soundly , and put Asha into bed. " Good night," He said quietly, " Come to my room and get me if you or Rain wake up, okay?" She nodded and, and quickly fell asleep. Before he left, Salem had a very eerie feeling wash over him, as if he was being watched. He took a quick look at the window next to Rain, and then was about to leave, before seeing a flash of gold.

Salem ran to the window quickly , and flung it open. He nervously looked around seeing nothing out of the ordinary., except that all the street lights were out. Other than that, there was just a candy wrapper on the ground, and a half moon in the sky. The wind whistled and ruffled Salem's hair. He shut the window, and turned off the lights before going to his own bed.

As Salem fell asleep, an old man with hair and a beard long enough to tuck into his belt, was watching Rain with his blue eyes, as she slept peacefully. She quickly awoke to the sound of a candy being unwrapped, and Rain pushed her auburn hair away from her light green eyes. " Would you like a Sherbert Lemon?" Dumbledore asked, smiling
