Chapter Four- Higher Than Heaven
Chapter 5
"Alexander is now an ally, at least for the time being. I'm not sure Damien is fully on board but it seems like he's out of commission. This is still somewhat strange. Someone who belittled this whole thing is now apart of it. Either way, we're waiting in his house, it's midnight so probably Jamie's last delivery. Alexander is looking through some cabinets. Does this guy have enough beakers? Damn. He pulled a bottle of what looks like whisky or gin from the cabinet. He hasn't told me what his plan is. God I hope he's sane."
"What exactly are you doing?" She looked up from her laptop, now plugged into a wall outlet, she sat on his couch which despite the mess of chemicals, beakers, flasks, and more was fairly clean.
"When Jamie gets here we'll offer him a couple shots of this and discuss our plan." Alexander turned from the cabinet and placed the bottle on the small table.
"Wouldn't it manipulate him if he's not sober?"
"He probably isn't sober to begin with, and a couple shots of whiskey isn't going to tip someone over that far."
"If you say so." She yawned, "Thanks again for letting me use your outlet."
"No problem." He got a small flask out of the cabinet. "Shot glass."
"You have got to be kidding me." She laughed a little, "This feels like a party city."
"With me, every day is a party."
"You are delirious."
"It's the crack fumes from the frat party down the street." He sat down at the table as a knock echoed from the door.
"Pizza." Jamie's muffled voice came from the other side.
"Here we go." Auburn got up from the couch and walked to the door, looked through the peephole out of habit, and opened the door.
"Hey- oh, I thought this was Alex's place." Jamie said, and like Alexander said, clearly high.
"Hey, Jamie, it still is." Alexander walked over and stood next to Auburn.
"Oh, Alex, I thought you were gay."
"Still am, this is Auburn, she's a friend."
"Oh, well, here's your pizza, I should get going so you and your 'friend' can hang out." He handed Alex the pizza.
"Actually, I was wondering if you wanted to stay and chat. Have a couple drinks. If you aren't too busy of course." Alex handed him a tip.
"Sure, you guys were my last delivery." Alexander put the pizza on the table and gestured to a chair. Jamie sat down, Alexander and Auburn next to him. Alexander poured a shot of whisky into the flask and handed it to him.
"So, you heard about the murder last night?" Auburn asked, grabbing a slice of pizza
"Yeah, what about it?" He took the shot.
"Well, we're investigating it, but we need a body. A body that's in a morgue." Alexander poured him another shot.
"Go on," He looked at them carefully.
"Basically we need help breaking into the morgue to investigate the body."
"Why would that help me be?"
"Because you're a crazy motherfucker and unopposed to breaking into a morgue."
"Good point. When do we start?"
"Tomorrow night right before the hospital closes to visitors we go in and investigate the body."
"Gotcha. Also it would be irresponsible to drive being drunk, can I stay the night?"
"Are you seri-" Auburn began before Alexander elbowed her.
"Sure. Auburn has the couch, you can-"
"Wooo, score, I get the floor." Jamie took the second shot and passed out.
"Jesus, is he okay?" Auburn looked down at him, a mixture of concern and confusion on her face.
"He's fine, he's been like this since freshman year of highschool."
