Let's Make a Plan
Chapter 7
I probably should've done something more. Planned out a creative and artistic way to apologize. It's what Lily would've done. But I soon as I realized how little I was without her, I didn't want to sit around planning. I ran in the direction she went, but I couldn't see her.
I ran to the staircase. It was closest and the elevator was old and slow. I nearly fall into our room. The door opened easier than my front door. Lily was sitting on the floor, looking out the window, sniffing a little. When she heard the door open she turned around and stood up.
"Odila," I pulled her into my arms before she could finish. Her breath caught in surprise but hugged me back. My stomach did another pancake flip. It confused me, but I didn't linger on it. "Odila, I-"
"I could use some help." My voice was plugged up, like I had been crying a lot more than I have. I looked her in the eye. It might have been a little intense. She looked flustered.
"I, um." She looked away and took a deep breath. "Yeah. I'll help you."
"I'm sorry for treating you like a child. I didn't want to ask for help."
"It's uh, fine." She was still looking anywhere but me.
"You okay?"
She stepped away and looked at the ground with particular intrest. "Yup. I'll be right back."
She walked out of the room in a hurry.
I can't tell if she's still mad at me or not.
Tentatively, I opened the door. No Lily. Emma was outside though.
"Have you seen Lily?"
She smiled. "Yeah."
"Do you, uh, know if she's mad at me?"
She looked at me with a mix of ammusement and disdain. "I don't think so."
I can't tell what that look was. 'I can't believe you can't tell she's mad' Probably.
"There's this thing coming up you know."
"No?"
"Yeah, a ceremonial thing! For the ghosts! It's cool."
"Okay." I'm not sure why this matters but I pretend to be interested. "Do you know where Lily went?"
"I'm here." She was standing near the secret staircase, looking a lot more calmer. Slightly annoyed. She was still mad. "Let's make a plan."
