No, that didn't happen
Chapter 4
Lily was gone the whole day.
I left breakfast early and holed myself up in my room. I sat on Lily's bed and bit my tounge as I cried. I think some tears got on the sheets. It wasn't that noticable.
I stayed there until lunch, where I ate as afast as I could, eyes still a little red. Emma told me you can't leave early. I think I got off lucky at breakfast. So I sat and glared at my empty plate. I didn't talk to anybody. Repeat hiding in my room, and then dinner. Didn't Marelyn tell us to go to her office this morning? I don't remember. It's not important. And I don't want to be in a small room with her.
Aideen came over and sat next to me during dinner. She didn't say anything, just ate with me. I think she knew what I was thinking. I paid attention to the food instead. It was chicken and salad. The chicken was burnt and the salad had no dressing. It was just lettuce.
Lily came back around lights out. A Vision came around and shouted at peoples' doors. I didn't like him.
She looked so tired. Her eyes were glassy and she stumbled in like she was drunk. Her hair was tangled and everywhere.
I got up and hugged her. Am I crying? Oh yes. Probably weeping. I think I missed her.
"O-Odila? Is that you?"
I let her go and held her shoulders. "Do you remember me?"
"Of course. What happened?"
"Do you remember being late?"
"I was late?"
I kicked a desk leg and swore.
"Are you okay?"
"No! They took you away and you don't remember." My voice quavered.
She looked at me with concern. "I-I'm sorry, I don't know..."
"It's fine just, you, you were late for breakfast and they took you into this room and you were gone the whole day."
"No, no I was with you. Remember, we-we took a walk and we played this game and we talked to Emma and Will...?"
I shook my head. "That didn't happen."
Lily walked around the room, distressed. "But, but it was real..."
In more detail, I explained what happened. Lily laid on her head and looked at the cieling.
"I lived a whole day and it was a lie."
"Do you remember anything?"
"No. I remember coming a little bit late to breakfast, but I just sat next to you and went about our day."
Now I'm questioning myself. No, no, I saw her get taken away. I heard Emma tell me she couldn't remember.
Something happened.
"Do you want to leave?" I hoped she would say yes. But I need to figure out what's going on.
"I'm staying."
