Chapter 1

૮αℓყρรσ

the trees looked different with every falling leaf. I could barely see the pale yellow grass underneath my black boots. Now that the days seemed longer in the middle of autumn, i would be able to see Ronan more. She lived closer in town, so i would usually only see here while we went to town. Eroda was never a loud place to live in England. Everyone knew each other, and that's just show we liked it. I could hear my mother distinctly.

"Alright, Lithia. Our chores are finished for the day, come now." She scooped baby Lilith in her arms and made her way inside our large Victorian house, swallowing them alive.

I huffed. The upcoming storm wasn't supposed to be promising. At least, that's what my father said. An in-popular author of our town is what he is. My older brother Arwin was to take over his businesses and house all together. Mystia, (my older sister) never liked the idea. She stated that it wasn't fair. And my mother being my mother, told her it was always the son to gain the inheritance.

Now I wondered if I should make my way up to the Thistle. Or in other words, the woods. I had found the hidden gem while exploring, and now i went every day. There wasn't a lot of sunlight- especially around this time of season. My favorite place is deep in the forest through a trail leading to a blank pocket of space with a pond in the middle, following a decaying tree trunk where i would sit and read the Grimm Brothers for hours. Sadly today, i wouldn't be able to do so. I sighed as i made my way back.

My mother was baking our favorite home-made pumpkin pie with the pumpkins that my father grew out in our greenhouse. Whenever I wandered around the green house, it always smelt sweet with fresh fruit and water. As i put my newest book down, i fall into a day dream. The window on my right was barely see-through with the morning fog and rain. Although I was quickly brought back to reality by the scratchy black lace in my hair. The only way I would be able to get out of the house, was to wear something that my mother would allow. Something appropriate with the weather. Her being her, she thinks that the weather would instantly freeze anyone that steps foot outside. So it's not my fault I have to wear white stockings and black playformed heels. As I push away my dark green novel of Robin Hood, and blow out the candle as I make my way through the silent hallways. I looked around the walls as the rain on the windows reflects itself. The hallways smelled of pumpkin sceneted candles, and coffee. As I got to the dining room, my family was all there. Mother carefully sat Lithia down  in her high chair, and began to place down what seemed like a thanksgiving feast. In my family we have a tradition. When it's the first thunderstorm of the autumn season, it calls for a miniature feast. It resolted into pumpkin pie, potato salad, pig meat, fruit bowls, wine, (of course, that was only for the adults.) and other kinds of pumpkin desserts we grew from our greenhouse. And finally, to set the mood, mother set out some dimed orange candles across the table to light the food from the dark. Father continued his conversation about the new-comers of our town to mother, and I stayed still, enjoying the pumpkin pie. Mystia and Arwin had a tendency to argue all. the. time. Especially during dinner. Mother would try to shut them up, but it didn't really do much. Lithia played with her smashed potato's.

Life was quiet for my Tudor lifestyle. I took a bite from the homemade lemon muffins. I thought about my routine tomorrow, what would i do? The storm would be gone for the day. The weather would consist of grey clouds. I fixed the lace in my hair. Maybe i could go into town, alone. It was always so much more fun to go alone. I would shop all i want, stay as long as i could, and eat as much snacks as possible. I smiled. Yes, i would go to town tomorrow.
