And then Ginny awoke, lying on the hard floor in the dark, miserable chamber, with someone she hadn’t expected kneeling over her. Harry Potter. 

She started sobbing. “It w-was… It was m-m-me, Harry! I- I opened the ch-chamber. I t-tried to t-tell you but I c-couldn’t. I’ve been waiting to come to H-Hogwarts ever since B-Bill came and n-n-now I’m going to be expelled! W-what’ll m-mum and dad say!?”

“It’s okay.” He said awkwardly. “It wasn’t your fault. It was the diary’s fault. They can’t expel you for this. The basilisk’s dead and so is Riddle. Let’s get out of here. Come on.”

Still crying, Harry lead Ginny through the chamber to where Ron and Professor Lockhart were waiting.

Finally they reached the headmaster’s office, where Professor McGonagall stood with Professor Dumbledore, and to Ginny’s horror, her parents. 

Ginny didn’t know what to say, but luckily, Harry explained about the diary. 

Much to Ginny’s relief, Professor Dumbledore did not expel her, but simply asked her to be escorted to the hospital wing.
