It was the first of September, and Ginny Weasley was about to board the Hogwarts Express. She was really excited. She had been waiting for this day for ages. All her brothers had gone and finally it was Ginny’s turn.

She gave her parents one last hug, and followed Fred and George onto the train. After her brothers had wandered off to find their friend, Lee Jordan, Ginny decided she should probably find somewhere to sit.

She peeked her head around the door of the closest compartment to see a girl with bushy hair and rather large front teeth, who she recognised to be a friend of Ron’s. “Umm hi. Is it ok if I sit here?” She asked shyly.

“Oh, of course. I’m Hermione Granger. You must be Ginny. Ron’s told me a bit about you, although most of what he said was just that you’re an annoying, attention-seeking brat, which you don’t appear to be.”

“Thanks.” Said Ginny, shuffling forward and sitting down.

“You don’t happen to know where Harry and Ron are, do you?” Said Hermione.

“Er, no. We came to the station together but I went through the barrier before them and haven’t seen them since.”

“I’ve looked everywhere for them. I searched the whole train.” Hermione said, looking worried. 

“Maybe they weren’t on the train when you searched. They’re probably with Fred and George or something.” Said Ginny.

“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” Said Hermione, although she didn’t look fully convinced. 

However, Hermione dropped the subject and she and Ginny started to talk about school, Ginny asking questions and Hermione answering them.
