Chapter 7
The Four Aspects: Fire, Water, Earth and Air
Three Primes: Sulphur, Mercury and Salt
Sulphur: bright yellow non-metal. Important in enzymes and antidioxant materials. Represents essence of life, soul and fire. Symbolises our emotions and desires. Linked to Gold and the Sun.
Mercury: chemical element, plant and Roman God. Also known as quicksilver. Liquifies at room temperature. Very toxic. Symbolises moral judgement and imagination. Representative of fluid concentration.
Salt: the body, the vessel. Preservation that shields the body from decay, corruption and age. Symbolises knowledge and wisdom. Also associated with ash, ouroboros and the Philosopher's Stone.
Air and Fire Personalities: active and masculine
Water and Earth personalities: passive and feminine
Fire: chaos. Hard to tame. Represents our passion, our desire and our will. Used as a catalyst. Warmth and enthusiastic characteristic. Can raise havoc and destruction. Archaic form of magic.
Air: a resemblance of our intellect. Thought Patterns. Symbolises reason and logic.
Earth: take our higher energies and ideas into the physical form. Earth magic dates back to ancient times.
Water: an emotional aspect. Take creative thoughts and keep them from flowing. Powerful force. Ability to flow and be flexible and adapt.
