When Sirius was 16, he ran away from his parents. He stayed at Hogwarts most of the time, but in the holidays, he stayed at James’s house. When he was 17, he got his own house, but still went to James’s quite often. 

In their 7th year, once James and Sirius became a bit nicer, Lily started going out with James. They got a house together, got married (Sirius was their best man) and had a baby called Harry Potter(they made Sirius his godfather). Peter and Remus also got their own houses. It turned out that Voldermort, a horrible person who was killing everyone who disagreed with him, wanted to kill Harry, so James and Lily went into hiding by using the fidelius charm so no-one could find them. They wanted to make Sirius secret keeper, but Sirius convinced them to change it to Peter because he thought that Voldermort wouldn’t suspect that Peter was secret keeper and would go after Sirius, but this was their mistake. Peter had been secretly working for Voldemort for the last year or so, so he told Voldemort how to find Lily and James. On Halloween night, a year after Harry Potter was born, Voldemort went into their house and killed them, but he couldn’t kill Harry. When he tried to he lost all his powers and became a weak, powerless thing that was less than a ghost but still alive, who could do no harm to anyone, and Harry Potter stayed alive. Harry became one of the most famous wizards in history over night. But sadly, Lily and James had died. Sirius heard that something had happened and, so went to there house, which was blown to bits, and saw Hagrid outside. He asked to look after Harry because he was his godfather, but Hagrid said that Dumbledore had told him to take Harry to his aunt and uncles and eventually Sirius gave in and gave Hagrid his flying motorbike to help him get there safely. Sirius had figured out what had happened- that Petigrue betrayed Lily and James, so Sirius went looking for him. When he found him, Pettigrew shouted for the whole street to hear that Sirius had betrayed Lily and James -even though he hadn’t-, then Pettigrew blew up the street, killing 12 muggles, cut off his finger to fake his own death and then transformed into a rat and ran away. When the ministry got there, they, like everyone else thought that Sirius had betrayed Lily and James and he was the one who had killed 12 muggles and Pettigrew. He got taken to Azkaban- the wizard prison and stayed there for 12 years.
